Job Description

Position Summary:

In coordination with GIAC and Audubon key staff the Community Building Coordinator will work to deliver meaningful relationships with organizations and community members located in Central Ohio and support initiatives outlined in Flight Plan Audubons Strategic Plan. With the guidance and support from the Engagement Manager the Community Building Coordinator will codesign and deliver relevant programs and stewardship activities that engage community members with National Audubon Society Grange Insurance Audubon Center and other local nature areas. The position requires travel to community organizations and local natural areas throughout Central Ohio and the ability to work 12 weekends a month.

Compensation:

$18.00 $20.00 / hour

Additional Job Description

Essential Functions

  • In collaboration with GIAC staff design and deliver programs field trips and stewardship days that build awareness of GIAC and natural areas in Central Ohio.

  • Assist with the delivery of Conservation Classroom camp and other center activities and special events.

  • Assist with volunteer management include outreach recruitment and training.

  • Partner with Engagement Manger to attend community events on behalf of the organization.

  • Build trusting and productive relationships with team members partner organizations and community leaders through participation of community events site visits field trips and other activities.

  • Provide offsite programming or events with participating partners.

  • Contribute to messaging materials for priority projects and communities. This includes assisting with content for social media brochures handouts and presentations.

  • Maintain administrative documentation for grant reporting communication schedules use appropriate administrative and program tools and develop meeting agendas as needed.

  • Administer and compile program feedback forms and evaluations.

  • Assist with staffing the front desk when needed.

  • Connect interested program participants with stewardship activities and groups.

  • Support a culture of philanthropy including public funding efforts.

  • Collaborate with colleagues across the Americas including through joint planning and execution of shared priorities.

  • Maintains and fosters culture of safety.

  • Other jobrelated duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in environmental studies ecology nature resources or related field required.

  • 02 years of relevant job experience in ecology or habitat restoration. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.

  • Understanding avian ecology is a plus.

  • Must be comfortable interacting with the public and external partner organizations.

  • Ability to work on diverse teams with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.

  • Ability to perform tasks requiring physical exertion outdoors in all weather conditions and on difficult terrain with or without accommodation while maintaining a positive attitude and setting an example for volunteers interns and work crews.

  • Strong interpersonal oral and written communication skills that can be adapted to reach a wide range of individuals and used to build consensus. Ability to synthesize and communicate technical and complex information to both technical and nontechnical audiences.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a multifaceted team.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite GIS and statistical analysis software.

  • Valid U.S. drivers license and able to travel locally.

  • Reliable transportation required.

  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.
