JOB SUMMARY:
The Lead Speech Language Pathologists main responsibilities include developing coordinating and executing departmental tasks mentoring staff and delivering highquality speech therapy services. This includes assessment and evaluation treatment planning and implementation intervention discharge planning and related documentation. The role also involves facilitating communication among colleagues families and both medical and nonmedical professionals to support rehabilitation of patients across clinic and home health settings.

- Manage and supervise the speech therapy team to ensure highquality service delivery.
- Manage and supervise the speechlanguage pathology team to ensure highquality and ethical service delivery.
- Help coordinate and help maintain therapy schedules for the SLP team.
- Provide guidance and support to SLPs CFs and SLP Assistants in assessment treatment planning and intervention.
- Conducting interviews and provide input to help identify qualified candidates to join the SLP team.
- Develop and maintain an onboarding and orientation program for new SLPs and SLP Assistants and facilitate as needed.
- Ensure department compliance with ASHA TSHA TDLR and all federal state and company regulations and standards.
- Participate in Quality Assurance meetings and other leadershiplevel meetings as required.
- Mentor and support the professional development of staff including facilitating training and conducting performance evaluations.
- Facilitate Continuing Education (CE) opportunities both within the company and through external networks.
- Serve as a liaison between the SLP department and other departments within the company.
- Coordinate with other healthcare professionals departments and families to promote holistic patient care.
- Act as a facilitator or mediator for interactions between parents and therapists.
- Oversee accurate and timely documentation of patient progress treatment plans and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Manage budgets supplies and equipment related to speech therapy services.
- Take the lead on special projects aimed at enhancing procedures within the SLP department.
- Promote the role of speech therapy within the organization and the community and advocate for patient needs.
- Provide quality care by completing thorough evaluation to determine the need for and type of intervention in an accurate and timely manner.
- Develop coordinate and implement treatment plans (including goals objectives and activities to meet goals/objectives) to meet individual needs.
- Document evaluation outcomes findings & treatment recommendations within appropriate times.
- Perform services at the clinic patients home or such other place as may be agreed upon at such times and for such duration as is consistent with the patients medical requirements and plan of care.
- Promote maximum independence by developing and implementing therapy techniques according to patients capacities and interests.
- Evaluate results of speech therapy by observing noting and evaluating patients progress recommending and implementing adjustments and modifications to the plan of care as need be.
- Assure continuation of therapeutic plan by designing recommending educating and demonstrating therapy techniques to parents that can be incorporated into a home program.
- Assess and make recommendations regarding the use of adaptive equipment as needed and provide written justification.
- Perform discharge planning to facilitate smooth transition to the next level of care.
- Complete all required documentation according to company and program standards reflecting patientcentered care by relating interventions to established goals and justifying skilled need.
- Complete minimum number of patient units on a weekly basis as required by the company.
- Maintain patient confidence and protect company operations by keeping information confidential.
- Communicate and collaborate with other professionals family members caregivers and other team members.
- Communicate and notify administrative staff timely as required by company policies.
- Maintain professional and clinical knowledge by attending education workshops reviewing professional publications establishing personal/professional networks participating in professional societies.
- Maintain standards for treatment procedures and professional ethics as outlined by ASHA TSHA and company guidelines including supervision of SLP Assistants and SLP CFs as needed by the company.
- Comply with federal state and local legal and certification requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
LEAD REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum Evaluations per Week: You are expected to complete a minimum of 8 evaluations per week.
- Leadership Expectations: You will be required to complete treatments at other geographical areas or clinics as needed.
- Mandatory Meetings: You will be required to attend and/or lead mandatory meeting.
EXPERIENCE SKILL AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Current Texas SLP license.
- Current CPR certification.
- Experience working with pediatric population is preferred.
- Willingness to supervise therapy assistants and/or students.
- Physical ability to lift and transfer children (minimum 25 lbs.).
- Ability to participate in handling and floor activities with children.
- Working knowledge and use of assessment tools used in the evaluation of children
- Basic computer experience (Microsoft Office excel internet).
BASIC PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to maintain various postures such as kneeling sitting standing squatting for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to regularly walk and run for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to transition from sitting to standing and vice versa independently.
- Must be able to utilize quick body movements as may be required by the behavior intervention plan.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
- Must be able to transfer/position/transport patients and adaptive equipment.
- Must have the visual ability to read and understand written communication via computer electronic devices and paper means.
- Must have the manual dexterity to perform electronic device functions such as data collection.
