Job Summary:

Supports mechanical engineers with industrial mechanical equipment operations prepares drafted drawings and specifications and records data.

What You Will Do:

Responsible to prepare 3D CAD models and engineering drawings using Creo 3D software assist engineers in troubleshooting designs and drawings maintain engineering release and change documentation manage projects for a team of drafters and work closely with customers to identify project scope requirements. Job Duties may include but are not limited to: Create or modify 3D models and engineering drawings for use in manufacturing. Verifying 3D models and engineering drawings meet the customers needs while also adhering to Caterpillar Engineering Standards. Use PLM software for storing CAD files creating engineering notices and maintaining Bills of Material. Create engineering notices for all 3D model and engineering drawing changes and creations that adhere to Caterpillar Engineering Standards. Collaborate with engineers and peers to troubleshoot design issues along with 3D models and engineering drawing issues and discrepancies. Utilize project management program to create/assign/manage various drawing assignments for customer projects. Work with team members to complete projects in a timely manner to meet customer due dates.

What You Will Do:

• 3D Modeling/Creation of drawings
• Assist engineers in troubleshooting design. Teach others in the use of design tools and systems
• Ensure engineering release and change documentation conforms to established engineering practices and maintains Engineering Services data in corporate Engineering Data Systems
• Interface daily with customers to provide project updates identify not project scope requirements discuss project discrepancies or recommended changes
• Create/assign/manage drawings tasks to drafting team members using Caterpillar project management software
• Interface daily with team members to obtain project status updates work through problems provide coaching on drafting best practices

Education Requirement:

Associates (technical) degree in Mechanical Drafting or 4 years of work related experience in lieu of a degree

The location for this position is Rapid City SD
