Job Summary
The Director of Primary School Mental Health role is an integral part of the student support team ensuring mental health practitioners receive supervision and support across the network as well as managing social emotional priorities that impact students across grade bands. The starting salary range for this role is $103491$114384. This is a fulltime fully onsite role based at HDQ schoolbased with an anticipated start date of July 8.

About the Role
The Director of Primary School Mental Health helps develop mental health practitioners to be clinical experts in their schools. The manager also works closely with schoolbased student support teams school leaders and teachers across campuses to manage and support socialemotional priorities for general education and special education students. As a Director this position must also ensure adherence to established internal control policies and procedures and maintain compliance within the is an exempt position and will report to the Managing Director of Mental Health.

Location and Type of Work
As a headquarters team that is focused on being responsive to our schools and meeting the needs of our students and families we approach our work in a way that reflects these priorities. Schools operate in person and our students and families rely on us for inperson support which requires this position to be fully onsite. This role is currently required to be onsite or in schools during regular work hours.

Responsibilities
Mental Health Practitioner Development (35%)
  • Manages supports and clinically supervises gradelevel mental health practitioners to drive best practices for individual class and schoollevel interventions. Develops MHPs according to the MH team performance competencies.
  • Drives hiring practices through review of performance retention and schoolspecific data.
  • Designs and leads professional development for mental health practitioners aligned with gradelevel priorities and areas of growth.
School and Community Support (35%)
  • Collaborates with school teams including MHPs BCBAs and Clinical Psychologists to address proactive and urgent social emotional needs.
  • Collaborates with regional team members including the KIPP DC Student Support Team Mental Health Leadership Team and Deputy Chief of Schools on individual student cases as appropriate student support systems social emotional programming and mental health practitioner support.
  • Collaborates with communitybased clinical representatives to ensure partnership responsibilities align with the mental health mission of KIPP DC.
  • Engages with professional networks to support uptodate collaborative opportunities for grade level teams.
  • Serves as a responding team member to schoolwide crises.
Network Leadership (30%)
  • Creates monitors and adjusts processes and systems to support MHP hiring training and performance review.
  • Serves as a member of the Mental Health Leadership Team to drive KIPP DC mental health programming and policy as well as optimize existing systems.
  • Creates and implements social emotional programming for gradelevel schools throughout the region.
  • Utilizes networkwide data to identify student progress and specific areas of social emotional development at the school level. Collaborates with Deputy Chiefs of Schools as needed to develop programming in response to data.
  • Collaborates with the KIPP DC Student Support Team on student support vision goals and priorities.

Qualifications
The percentages for each key responsibility are estimates. Flexibility and responsiveness are encouraged to accommodate organizational needs.

Required Qualifications
  • Masters Degree in Social Work or Professional Counseling.
  • DC independent licensure in social work or professional counseling.
  • At least 6 years of experience as a clinician with minimum 4 years as a schoolbased clinician.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 1 year of experience managing clinicians in a clinical setting.
Physical Requirements
  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours or weekends in the event of a school crisis.
  • Ability to travel across KIPP DC schools.

Benefits & Compensation
KIPP DC offers an extremely competitive compensation and benefits package:
  • The anticipated starting salary range for this position is $103491$114384. At KIPP DC we strive for clarity equity and to be highly competitive. When determining salaries we look at benchmarks in the education and nonprofit sector.
  • KIPP DC offers a robust benefits package including medical dental and vision insurances; various voluntary benefits; and employer paid benefits such as short term disability long term disability life insurance and a membership to One Medical.
  • KIPP DC also offers a 403(b) retirement account with a 3% employer contribution and a 3% match with vesting after three years.
  • Currently individuals in this role have up to 15 paid time off days up to 10 paid sick days 12 paid holidays and paid Thanksgiving week break and winter break. This is subject to change and your exact schedule will be shared in your offer letter.
