Job Description:
The L3Harris Communication Systems (CS) segment Tactical Communications sector (TCOM) is seeking a highly motivated team oriented digital signal process and/or audio engineer who will be a member of a cross functional team with hands on responsibility for all phases of the software development process from requirements definition through integration and testing of completed product. Emphasis will be on digital signal processing for digital communications. Other responsibilities will include system/software analysis highlevel design detailed design simulation implementation testing and documentation. This position requires the application of principles and techniques of computer science engineering and mathematical analysis. Experience with digital signal processing (DSP) embedded C/C and MATLAB is expected. Experience working in/with FPGA development collaborative software design/development/test teams Agile Scrum and DevOpsbased software development is desired. Experience in engineering requirements analysis development and testing is also desired.
Essential Functions:
The responsibilities and duties of this position include but are not limited to:
- Research design develop modify and evaluate embedded computer software for electronic equipment or other communications systems in conjunction with hardware product development.
- Deliver the assigned portion of the entire product development cycle in an Agile Scrum environment including system/software requirements analysis high level and detailed design implementation testing integration and documentation of embedded software solutions.
- Determine design approaches and parameters. Analyze software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. Analyze equipment to establish operating data conduct experimental tests and evaluate results.
- Perform detailed analysis including: requirements analysis use case scenarios conceptual design trade studies test operation maintenance and reliability analysis of radio communications products internal subsystems and external systems.
- Design implement test and maintain embedded software for realtime control of advanced tactical radio equipment.
- Consult with electrical engineers and other engineering staff to evaluate interface between hardware and software and operational performance requirements of the overall system.
- Develop software system testing procedures and design documentation.
- Exhibit effective interpersonal skills and the ability to convey technical matters in a clear and logical manner.
- Ability to Obtain a US Security Clearance
Qualifications:
- BS degree in Engineering discipline with a minimum 4 years of relevant experience developing realtime embedded software in C or C (2 years with MS degree).
- 4 years experience developing and testing software developed in C or C.
- 4 years experience in digital signal process or audio signal processing.
- 4 years experience in full development lifecycle for software projects.
- 2 years of experience producing software development documents such as design documents and test plans.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience developing software on an embedded microprocessor using an RTOS in C or C.
- Experience with VHDL / FPGA development.
- Ability to interpret hardware schematics circuit designs and datasheets.
- Experience with OOA/OOD software development methodology.
- Proficiency with multithreaded multicore design and/or realtime operating systems.
- Experience with all phases of the software project development life cycle including software analysis design development testing (including software unit testing) and automation tools.
- Experience in Agile software development methodologies using an iterative timeboxed development process (SCRUM).
- Experience/knowledge of Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) systems and software development processes or other defined SW development process.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and debug software and related hardware issues.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment good interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Radio communications or IP networking experience.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements the salary range for this role in New York State is $83000 $154000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
