TAMIU is a Hispanic Serving Institution with over 8000 students located in Laredo Texas a vibrant and bicultural city with a population of about 250000. The university advances knowledge through research and discovery teaching and learning community engagement and public service and with an intentional focus on student success and research excellence. For more information please visit is anontenure track 3year faculty position that is renewable contingent on satisfactory job performance and departmental needs. Primary duties will includeteaching 12 SCH per semester (four classes of 3 SCH each) in foundations of Art and possibly another area of strength of the successful candidate; advising students; and providing service to the department college and university. Duties also includecurating in collaboration with other faculty and staff the departments gallery. This position requires facetoface interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
The Art division is part of the Department of Fine and Performing Arts comprising Art Music Dance and Theater. The art division has seen growth over the past few years currently at around 133 art majors and minors supported by a dynamic and active faculty component.
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold aMasters degree in Fine Arts. We strongly encourage candidates with a minimum of 3 years of instructional experience at the collegiate level.
