We are seeking a Technical Writer who is currently enrolled in a Coop Program or a recent graduate looking for an internship starting in June for an 8month contract. Reporting to the Director of Development Professional Services & Support you will support the creation of user and training guides for new module releases collaborating with multiple teams. This position is ideal for someone eager to enhance their skills and advance their technical writing experience in a dynamic team environment.
Primary Location:Burnaby BC (Head Office)
Remote Work Eligibility:Open to candidates within Canada.
Note:Unfortunately remote opportunities outside Canada or without a valid work permit are not available at this time.
During this Technical Writing coop/internship you will be responsible for:
Documentation Standards
- Follow documentation standards for style grammar and structure.
- Assist in writing and updating user guides and training materials for our solutions.
- Support the creation and refinement of training guides for Professional Services.
Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with development support and professional services teams.
- Support the release of new modules within our solutions and publish release documentation within the product.
Process Management
- Help maintain and improve processes and tools for creating user documentation.
- Assist in managing documentation changes and updates.
Communication and Quality
- Participate in initiatives to enhance written communication skills within the team.
- Assist with periodic audits of product documentation and user interfaces and report on quality.
Performance and Product Knowledge
- Assist in reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) for user documentation.
- Support efforts to improve documentation development processes.
- Develop a basic understanding of Binary Stream products.
Skills and Experience:
- Enrolled in a coop program or a recent graduate in Computer Science Business Arts or a related field.
- 12 coop terms or 1 year of experience in technical writing content writing marketing or a related field.
- Completed communication/writing courses including technical writing courses.
- Strong communication and writing skills with beginner skills in writing and reviewing documentation and presentations.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of MS Office including Word Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong ability to maintain document standards for consistency style and clarity.
- Technical acumen and familiarity with software development concepts.
How You Can Stand Out:
- Familiarity with RoboHelp MadCap Flare or a comparable tool for managing online help content.
- Experience writing user documentation.
- Financial ERP and/or accounting experience.
Compensation
- Wage: $25 $33 per hour.
