The Analyst/Research Specialist II is responsible for conducting thorough and comprehensive systemwide currency business case and return on investment analysis for healthcare operations within the MHS Veterans Administration or private sector. They gather analyze and interpret data from various sources utilizing statistical techniques and data visualization tools. The role involves performing market research tracking industry trends and providing insights to assist in strategic planning and business development. The Analyst/Research Specialist II prepares reports and presentations summarizing findings and collaborates with crossfunctional teams to provide actionable recommendations based on the data analysis. They possess strong analytical skills attention to detail and the ability to communicate complex information effectively.
Compensation & Benefits:
Estimated Starting Salary Range for Analyst/Research Specialist II:$100000 $110000. Pay commensurate with experience.

Analyst/Research Specialist II Responsibilities Include:
- Synthesize disparate facts from multiple sources and coalesce into an accurate and useful analytic product.
- Conduct thorough and comprehensive systemwide currency business case and return on investment analysis for healthcare operations within the Military Health System (MHS) Veterans Administration (VA) or private sector.
- Execute data analytics processes to include data extraction transformation and loading; data visualization applications and techniques; and quantitative data analysis.
- Communicate in writing complex concepts and their effects/impacts on the target environment such that a lay audience is capable of understanding.
- Identify and implement solutions to improve clinical and business data quality.
- SQL R and/or Python proficiency preferred.
- Tableau visualization experience preferred.
- Degree in data science mathematics/statistics or related field preferred.
- Performs other jobrelated duties as assigned.
Analyst/Research Specialist II Experience Education Skills Abilities requested:
- Active Secret clearance or willingness and ability to obtain a Secret clearance
- Bachelor/Undergraduate Degree in a related field.
- 10 years of related experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience with integration of performance planning goals to meet the objectives of the MHS VA and/or AFMS is desired.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience to include significant knowledge of MHS Medical Expense Personnel Reporting System (MEPRS) Defense Medical Human Resources System Internet (DMHRSi) Manpower Program Objective Memorandum (POM) processes Finance and Referral Management/Access to Care preferred.
- Experience with basic statistical modeling and analysis SQL Server Crystal Reports SAS Python R Tableau/QLIK or other visualization tools Azure and similar platforms provided by the Government or other vendors at the direction of the government.
- Ability to gain access to some of the following MHS information systems the
- Demonstrated knowledge of the CHCS/AHLTA and/or M2 file and table structures or Military Data Repository (MDR).
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical coding practices and processes International Classification of Diseases (ICD)9/10 and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT)/Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS).
- Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare business processes. Prepare briefing papers on various financial administrative and business process matters. Prepare technical writing and information papers. Provide technical administrative editorial and graphics support for the purpose of preparing special reports studies and analyses. Familiar with current and/or available business intelligence software/applications and data visualization tools.
- Ability to gain access to some of the following MHS information systems the Military Health System Management and Reporting Tool (M2) Medical Data Repository (MDR) HealtheAnalytics and others as required.
- Knowledge of Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA) MHS GENESIS Essentris Pharmacy Data Transaction Service (PDTS)Theater Medical Data Store (TMDS) MEPRS/DMHRSi Expense Assignment System Version IV (EAS IV) Air Force Corporate Health Information Processing Service (AFCHIPS) MDR Health Services Data Warehouse (HSDW) Medical Readiness Decision Support System (MRDSS) and other applicable systems as developed.
- Ability to research analyze and craft data to create compelling insightful and effective informed recommendations presentations and reports.
- Must pass preemployment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
