A prominent NYS law firm is searching for a Practice Management Specialist for their Buffalo office. This fulltime role supports the firm in optimizing billable and nonbillable capacity and is responsible for tracking attorney utilization improving workflow efficiency and ensuring resources are allocated effectively to maximize productivity and revenue generation by working closely with senior leadership.

A prominent NYS law firm is searching for a Practice Management Specialist for their Buffalo office. This fulltime role supports the firm in optimizing billable and nonbillable capacity and is responsible for tracking attorney utilization improving workflow efficiency and ensuring resources are allocated effectively to maximize productivity and revenue generation by working closely with senior leadership.
Duties:
- Monitor and analyze lawyer utilization rates ensuring optimal distribution of billable and nonbillable work to make strategic decisions or recommendations regarding how attorney workloads are distributed
- Evaluate current workloads to align attorney staffing with business needs and client demands
- Ensure compliance with timekeeping best practices to maximize billable hours
- Analyze billing patterns to identify trends in billable vs. nonbillable work and recommend process improvements
- Develop and support the Practice Group Leaders/Chairs with prep materials for their group meetings to determine key issues that need addressing
- Act as a Task Manager for the PGLs/PA Chairs
- Assist in developing and standardizing PGL communications
- Leverage legal technology and practice management software to identify inefficiencies select appropriate technologies and recommend automated solutions for PGL administrative tasks
- Develop tailored training content on best practices for time management billable hour optimization and accessing webbased reporting tools for all lawyers
