STUDENT - Campus Center Operations Staff (Summer)

The Campus Center has two summer staff openings. We are looking for students who will be in Ithaca and able to work all summer from Monday May 19th through Sunday August 24th. Preference will be given to candidates who have no other time obligations and thus have open flexibility for work hours each day. Staff is encouraged to take up to two unpaid weeks off throughout the summer.

Campus Center Summer Operations Staff (Ops Staff)

The Summer Operations Staff are an integral part of the Campus Center office. The Operations Staff runs the college Information Desk and setsup for all events in the Campus Center facility.

Operations staff members must be able to take direction and complete assigned tasks independently while displaying a positive attitude and willingness to help. Operations Staff must attend a weekly meeting and must also be prepared to work frequent early mornings late nights and weekends.

Pay Rate: $15.50

Information Desk Area

At the Information Desk the Operations Staff must exhibit outstanding customer service while working independently. Whether its answering phone calls or assisting people who walk up to the Information Desk or those who engage via the online chat the Operations Staff members must be knowledgeable about events happening around the College and the different departments at IC. These valuable staff members are usually the first person someone calls when seeking information about the College and knowledge of College and community resources is vital to answer each question in a timely and correct manner. While working the Information Desk Operations Staff also manage the campus Lost and Found (tagging tracking and retrieving lost items) and online chat services.

Recreation Center Area

The Operations Staff also oversees all activities in the Recreation Center ensuring that customers are utilizing equipment and the space in a safe and appropriate manner. To do this the staff members in the Recreation Center must also exhibit exceptional customer service skills since they are dealing with customers throughout their shift. During the summer there are no regular Rec Center hours but the Rec Center is open by request for summer groups like Summer Music Academy.

SetUp Area

These shifts are spread out throughout the week at times dictated by the event schedule and require schedule flexibility which an Operations Staff member must have. Setup shifts are assigned and reviewed in our weekly staff meeting. While setting up and taking down events the Operations Staff must have thorough knowledge of where set up equipment is stored in the building proper and safe use of equipment and working knowledge of setup terms and styles.

1. The Campus Center job will be a 5 or 6 day a week job with different hours and different days off each week. As such hours for this position must be the priority with any other obligations scheduled around these hours.
