Description of Work
This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. Temporary employees who work an annual average of 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). Note: Permanent and timelimited NC State Government employees must separate from their permanent or timelimited position in order to work in a temporary position. All temporaries are limited to one NC State Government temporary assignment at a time.
Individuals hired into a temporary State job must be fully qualified for the job. This temporary position is located in Raleigh Wake County.
Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $26.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).
This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Adult Correction. This position is located at200 Leagan Dr Raleigh NC 27603. This position will be assigned to the Department of Adult Correction Central Supply Warehouse.
This position is responsible for operating a tractortrailer unit for the purpose of making
deliveries and pickups throughout the State of North Carolina. Responsible for independently
operating a tractortrailer in a safe and efficient manner; obeying all federal state and
departmental transportation and traffic rules and regulations along with adhering to the designated
routes and delivery scheduled. This position must be able to communicate effectively both orally
and written with other employees and outside vendors. Must have experience using a computer. Duties
include:
Overseeing and participating in the loading security and unloading of materials.
Checking quantities and items against delivery tickets.
Completing all necessary paperwork.
Performing routine maintenance evaluations and service on the tractor trailers
Performing any warehouse related tasks or other duties as assigned.Knowledge Skills and Abilities / Competencies

- Current North Carolina Class A CDL License with a clean driving background.
- Demonstrated experience operating a tractortrailer for extended periods in various road weather
- and traffic conditions and during various times of the day.
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal DOT requirements and state requirements.
- Demonstrated experience hauling a wide variety of supplies materials and equipment.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma; or an equivalent combination of
education and experience.
