Job Description

A nonprofit organization working with Colorado families seeks an experienced Director of Finance to lead our fiscal work and join our executive leadership team!

THE OPPORTUNITY

Our Director of Finance is the vital role at Parent Possible in all financial aspects of the organization. We need a person that enjoys finance work that makes a difference in the world!

This position is responsible for all key organizational fiscal analysis operations budgeting audit payroll and the fiscal management of State and Federal grant management.

WHAT WE DO

Parents who want a better life for their child should be able to become a positive force in their childs success. Until all parents regardless of economic circumstances are empowered to be their childs first and most influential teacher Parent Possibles work is not done.

We lead three international parent support programs called Parents as Teacher (PAT) Home Instruction of Parent of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) and Vroom. Each program supports Colorado parents with their childrens positive development prenatal through kindergarten.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Parent Possible is seeking a strategic and handson Director of Finance to lead all aspects of the organizations financial management. This role is responsible for overseeing accounting operations budgeting audits payroll and the fiscal oversight of state and federal grants across eight program units. The ideal candidate brings both bigpicture financial strategy and daytoday operational expertise to support our mission of empowering Colorado parents and families.

FINANCIAL

  • Manage financial accounting for eight program units using QuickBooks including accounts receivable/payable payroll and monthly/annual close
  • Lead the development and monitoring of the organizational and unitlevel budgets ensuring alignment with grant restrictions and organizational goals
  • Provide regular financial reports to the Executive Director and Finance Committee including updates on spending cash flow and grant spenddown
  • Maintain internal financial controls employee personnel records and track PTO and budget performance

STATE AND FEDERAL GRANTS

  • Oversee financial management of state and federal grants including reimbursements compliance tracking and liaison work with funders
  • Coordinate subrecipient grant processes contracts and serve as point of contact for partner site fiscal teams
  • Provide training guidance and riskbased monitoring to subrecipients on financial procedures match requirements and federal/state regulations
  • Support grant reporting in partnership with the Director of Development and ensure alignment with IRS regulations and grant terms

AUDIT OF STATE AND FEDERAL FUNDS

  • Lead the organizations thirdparty and Single Audit processes coordinating documentation and timelines with auditors
  • Manage federal and state filings including 1099s 990 review registrations and compliancerelated documentation requests
  • Ensure audits and financial reviews meet public reporting requirements and reflect accurate use of federal and state funds

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 years of experience in leading the financial management of an organization.
  • 5 years of experience with audits of state and federal grant funds.
  • A bachelors degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with QuickBooks use of Class Customer Job and SubJob for tracking organization level unit level funding source and grant revenues and expenses.
  • Fluency in budgeting cost control principles and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Trainerlevel comfort with federal and state grant regulations and CFR requirements.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare reports statements and projections for a nonspecialist audience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10 years of experience in leading the financial management of an organization.
  • 10 years of experience with audits of state and federal grant funds.
  • A masters degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with grant management of the following Colorado programs: AmeriCorps; Tony Grampsas Youth Services Program (TGYS); Maternal Infant Early Childhood Home Visitation Program (MIECHV); similar experience managing Colorado state and Federal grant programs.
  • Experience supporting small and / or rural community groups in navigating grants management fiscal oversight and federal regulations.

WHAT OUR ORGANIZATION IS PROVIDING

  • Hiring salary range of $110000 $140000 based on background skills and experience
