Support Worker Opportunity at Umbrella Family and Child Centres of Hamilton
For over 35 years Umbrella Family and Child Centres of Hamilton has been dedicated to providing highquality inclusive and accessible programs for young children and their families. We operate over 27 fullday early learning and childcare centres across the Greater Hamilton Area offering services for infants toddlers preschoolers and schoolage children with extended before and after school Umbrella we take pride in being a leading childcare organization committed to promoting learning growth and the wellbeing of every child.
Who Were Looking For
Were searching for a compassionate and motivated Support Worker to join our team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of children! This role will focus on supporting children with physical behavioural and mental health needs.
As a Support Worker youll be working at our Ancaster Meadow location for 13.75hours a weekMonday to Friday3:15pm6:00pm (in after care schoolage group) under the guidance of the Supervisor. This is a permanent part time position.
The hourly rate will be $20.71 per hour as per the collective agreement (including wage grants)

What You Bring to the Role
Experience
- Handson experience in supporting children with diverse needs (physical behavioural or mental health)
- Experience administering insulin and managing blood sugar readings
- Ability to implement childspecific strategies including medication and meal management
- Minimum Secondary School diploma or equivalent
- Personal Support Worker certificate (preferred but not required)
- Standard First Aid with CPR level C
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check
- Proof of uptodate immunizations (TB Tetanus MMR)
- Proof of COVID19 vaccinations
- Knowledge of How Does Learning Happen is an asset
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage sensitively and professionally with children families and staff
- Physically able to stand walk and assist with equipment and devices
- A dedicated advocate for diversity equality and inclusion
- Capable of working independently and as part of a dynamic team
In this role youll play a key part in supporting children families and staff where additional resources are needed. You will:
- Work closely with program staff to implement classroom and child management techniques
- Assist with documentation and updates on Individual Support Plans (ISPs)
- Collaborate in alignment with How Does Learning Happen to ensure a holistic and supportive environment for each child
