Civil/Structural Engineer - Anchorage, AK

NANA Worley is hiring for multiple positions at varying classifications from Civil/Structural Engineer to Civil/Structural Specialist Engineers dependent on experience and competencies. The Civil/Structural Engineer position is responsible for researching specifying developing designing engineering or testing components equipment and/or systems in a multidiscipline engineering and design team. Individuals are expected to apply advanced knowledge of engineering principles methods and techniques to project assignments.

This position is intended for execution from the NANA Worley offices in Anchorage Alaska USA. Hybrid remoteoffice locations may be considered.

• Researches and analyzes data such as client design proposals specifications and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
• Works with clients to develop a projects scope of work estimates and/or schedules.
• Reviews and approves project drawings standards and specifications.
• Develops major equipment and material selection and construction specifications.
• Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
• Ensures that all assigned activities and operations comply with applicable codes regulations and laws.
• Provides support during fabrication and installation phases to ensure engineering documents are followed.
• Coordinates activities with other project disciplines involved in fabrication operation application and installation or repair of various materials products or systems.
• Provides technical direction support and information to other engineers designers and drafters.
• Consistently demonstrates professional skills in structuring assigned activities creativity teamwork communications operational efficiencies handling of a clients changing needs decision making and analyzing and solving problems.
• Analyzes reports maps drawings tests and aerial photographs on soil composition terrain hydrological characteristics and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design project.
• Calculates cost and determines feasibility of project based on analysis of collected data.
• Prepares or directs preparation and modification of reports specifications plans construction schedules and designs for project.
• Inspects construction site to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering plans specifications and construction and safety standards.
• Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
• More senior individuals will have engineering experience including arctic civil/structural design and application of IBC AWS ASCE AISC and national fire codes.
• This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
• Other duties as assigned.

The following describes the education and experience typically required to develop the competencies for each classification level; competencies may be demonstrated with other combinations of education training experience and achievements:

Engineer

• Bachelors degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABETaccredited institution required.
• A minimum of 2 years of work experience with oil and gas industry experienced preferred; and
• Engineer in Training certificate (EIT) or passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam preferred.

Senior Engineer

• Bachelors degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABETaccredited institution; and
• 410 years of experience in the oil and gas industry; and
• PE/SE license strongly desired

Staff Engineer

• Bachelors degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABETaccredited institution 815 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and PE/SE license; or
• Bachelors degree and 15 years of experience.

Senior Staff Engineer

• Bachelors degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABETaccredited institution 15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and PE/SE license; or
• Bachelors degree and 20 years of experience.

Principal Engineer

• Bachelors degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABETaccredited institution 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and PE license; or
• Bachelors degree and 25 years of experience.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience with or education in engineering for Cold regions or Arctic conditions.
• Alaska North Slope Oil and Gas industry experience.
• Offshore Structures Telecom Infrastructures and/or Fire Protection project experience.

Language Ability

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure to write routine reports and to speak effectively before groups of managers client or employees of organization.

Math Ability

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions percentages area circumference and to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.

Computer Skills

A working knowledge of Microsoft Word processing software; Excel spreadsheet software; Outlook email software; and proficiency in current versions of AutoCAD design software. Experience with Advanced Steel is preferred.

No certifications required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities although the individual may be asked to lead a functional work group or direct the work functions of others including drafters designers.
