Job Description
Misericordia seeks an innovative new vice president who is an experienced and successful leader in higher education and who is deeply grounded in liberal arts education and the charisms of the Sisters of Mercy. The vice president is the chief advancement officer for the University and advises the President on all matters pertaining to the management and operation of alumni relations and donor relations.
Education and Experience:
- A bachelors degree and experience in donorcentric development operations.
- Progressively more responsibility (including or approaching the level of a vice president) in leadership and administrative experience in higher education or a closely related nonprofit setting related to fundraising university advancement and/or alumni/external relations.
- An understanding of the legacy of the Sisters of Mercy and the Catholic traditions and mission of the University and a deep commitment to the charisms.
- Demonstrated experience in cultivating soliciting and stewarding prospects and their engagement in fundraising activities.
- An understanding and appreciation for volunteer or board management including the importance of creating a diverse representative board.
- Knowledge of current and emerging best practices in fundraising and the capacity to adapt these as appropriate.
- The ability to gain the confidence of the University administrative team faculty students staff alumni and the greater Dallas communities through sustained transparent and visionary leadership.
- Excellent communication skills including speaking writing and listening.
- Visibility on the campus and in the community and accessibility to students faculty and staff.
- The ability to build effective teams that allow for both individual creativity and accountability and demonstrated appreciation for and reliance on data and quantifiable outcomes and reporting.
