What you will do:
Aftermarket & Sustainment Engineering (ASE) is looking for a Senior Structures Engineer for the Military Structures team. This employee will be based in Oklahoma City to support the ASE Engine Life Management team (ELMT) there but report to the Military Structures Manager in East Hartford. This position involves analyzing repairs to ensure they meet original equipment manufacturing (OEM) requirements supporting customer safety cost and reliability Structures is uniquely linked between the engine development / certification and aftermarket and field support engine life results in our repairs having a direct impact on the bottom line of Pratt & Whitneys maintenance repair and overhaul revenue. The Senior Structures Engineer closely interacts with fellow ASE engineers from structures design project and program along with other module center engineers from the CIPT and design metallurgy among others to develop technical data to meet safety quality delivery and cost requirements. Travel for this role is up to 10%.
- Responsible for the structural assessments of repairs to military engine hot and cold section rotating and static components.
- Knowledge of Integrated Product Development (IPD) Structures Engineering Knowledge System (EKS) and the Product Design Review process.
- Coordinate structural analysis requirements for repairs with other ASE technical disciplines and module centers/Component Integrated Product Teams (CIPTs).
- Provide technical coaching and mentoring to entry level structures engineers.
- Participate on multidisciplinary teams to provide design solutions that meet design and life requirements.
- Work independently on structural analysis solutions when historical solutions are not available or applicable. Analysis may include both classical methods and/or detailed Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Coordinate with others to advance the technology and improve engineering processes/methods plus document and present results to management and other technical leaders.
- Primary focal for structural analysis memos (SAMs)
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering and minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical aerospace or structural engineering or an Advanced Degree in Engineering and 3 years experience.
- U.S. Person or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Working knowledge of ANSYS required or other FEA software.
- Awareness of manufacturing repair processes experience a plus.
- Experience using Pratt & Whitney/industry lifing systems: PWLIFE ARLS or crack growth (SURCK Darwin Franc3D) systems a plus.
- Strong understanding of low cycle fatigue (LCF) and fatigue and fracture mechanics theory and applications.
- Background in turbomachinery.

The salary range for this role is 82000 USD 164000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
