We are currently seeking:
An Intelligence Specialist to join our team. In this role you will conduct a variety of crime and statistical analysis in support of crime analysis activities; collect and analyze data describing crime patterns crime trends and potential suspects; assist with administering crime and analysis database and tracking systems; assist with creating local state and federal statistics for Citywide and inhouse reporting requirements; compile extracted data and information into clean understandable reports and ensure work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Collecting collating and analyzing a variety of economic geographic or social information in support of crime analysis activities; present informational analysis to police administrators other law enforcement agencies and City officials.
- Performing a variety of statistical methodologies and geographical analysis techniques to assist in identifying crime problems; developing and testing crime prediction statistical models; assisting in advising command staff for tactical and statistical planning.
- Assisting in designing and producing various statistical analytical and confidential reports maps spreadsheets and other documents using a variety of computer software to create confidential law enforcement bulletins regarding crime trends wanted persons and officer safety.
- Assisting in designing and producing various statistical analytical and confidential reports maps spreadsheets and other documents using a variety of computer software.
- Assisting in the identification of suspects and conducting record checks on individuals vehicles licenses weapons etc. using computer systems including the National Crime Information Center and Texas Crime Information Center.
- Creating and maintaining files spreadsheets databases and reports related to the tactical strategic and intelligence analysis functions of the department.
- Conducting indepth analysis of administrative data pertaining to the operation and performance of the Police Department. Including long range trend analysis indepth casual analysis and future predictability studies of macro level crime data.
- Advising the Chief and Assistant Chiefs by providing macro level information concerning crime trends and crime trend direction for the formation of Departmental policy and action plans.
- Preparing the weekly CompStat presentation conducting analysis of trends and identification of problem areas for the purpose of advising and informing command level decision makers. Will also be responsible for the production of periodic reports focusing on noncriminal related analysis such as Crash Calls for Service and Racial Profiling reports for inter and intra departmental personnel.
- Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and call out hours (subject to being called out after hours).
- Regular and timely attendance is required.

Requirements and Skills:
- Perform advanced statistical research and analysis.
- Gather analyze and interpret crime data evidence and other complex information sets.
- Apply principles of logic and scientific methods to define problems related to tactical and strategic response planning using concrete and abstract variables.
- Creating and testing statistical models used to predict criminal activity.
- Communicating effectively verbally and the ability to write clearly accurately concisely legibly and with correct English grammar construction and spelling; excellent public presentation skills.
- Operating office equipment including computers and supporting crime analysis programs utilizing specialized technical and database software and databases.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with officials employees supervisors volunteers and the public.
- Maintaining intelligence records technical files and databases on individuals and groups of people involved in criminal activities in compliance with the state and Federal guidelines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Associates degree in Criminal Justice Business Administration or a related field; and five years technical computer experience including two years experience in statistical and investigative research preferably in law enforcement agency; computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite SQL WEBbased information sharing database mining graphics and Geographic Information Systems are preferred. Experience in various law enforcement specific software such as Automated Tactical Analysis of Crime (ATAC) Analysts Notebook Intergraph Public Safety CAD and RMS and similar applications is preferred; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver License.
- Applicants with an outofstate driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.
- Must obtain technical certificates in TLETS/NCIC computer system.
- Successful completion of a background investigation and polygraph is required.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Work is performed in a standard office environment.
