The City of Edmonton is looking for a dynamic and detailoriented Analyst to join our Downtown Economy team. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the implementation of strategies plans and policies that contribute to Edmontons vibrant downtown. The Analyst will be involved in a variety of tasks including administration research and analysis reporting stakeholder engagement and customer service. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact on the economic and cultural vitality of our citys core.
As an integral part of the Downtown Economy section the Analyst will support the implementation of key strategies and initiatives related to the Downtown Action Plan. This role requires a proactive individual who can effectively manage multiple priorities engage with diverse stakeholders and provide exceptional customer service. Youll be assisting downtown businesses to support the growth of the local economy and using your strong data analysis skills to create dashboards that help to visualize the impact of Downtown Economy projects.
What will you do
- Research and Reporting: Collect organize and analyze data and conduct research to support Downtown Economy programs
- Create dashboards and reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Downtown Economy Program Administration: Receive and organize grant funding applications review submissions and provide information and support to stakeholders
- Provide support for the implementation of the Downtown Action Plan
- Business Support: Develop program guides and intake forms maintain websites and assist with stakeholder meetings
- Draft grant approval letters and funding agreements in accordance with the Municipal Funding Arrangements Administrative Policy
- Assist with grant funding applications from external sources
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work with businesses business associations property owners social organizations and nonprofits to address inquiries provide support and develop strong relationships
- Conduct internal reviews and jurisdictional scans of other municipalities; analyze research findings assist with determining best practices and develop recommendations
- Create briefings reports and presentations for various audiences including branch and department leadership City Council and its Committees
degree in Commerce Business Administration Public administration or RecreationA minimum of 5 years of experience in a combination of economic development business support data analysis project managementAssets:
- Experience analyzing data in a public sector environment
Skills required for success:
- Proven research and data analysis skills that support strategic planning
- Advanced experience in using Google Sheets to support data analysis
- Experience in using Tableau software
- The ability to analyze information and present it in an easily understandable format
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work effectively to meet tight deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Experience with the administration of grant programs
- Proven skills and experience in project management

- Note: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52
- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance
