Alternative Education Position (Secondary Science) available for theSchool Year



Job Description:

This position requires an individual who enjoys assisting 6th through 12thgrade students working toward successful credit recovery and/or attending an alternative setting to a traditional high school.

Location:2727 South 137th West Ave Sand Springs OK 74063 (Employment is with Sand Springs Public Schools)

Reports to:Building Administrator Ashley Wise


Supervises:Assigned Paraprofessionals Volunteers and Students

Salary:An additional 5 over the designated Sand Springs teacher pay scale will also be added to the Salary Step.

Contract: 180 days/7 hours daily

Status: Exempt

Grades: 6th 12th

Additional Duty: This position requires coaching from one of the areas listed below and stipends for additional position will vary. Coaching positions are open in football fast pitch softball cross country volleyball girls basketball wrestling baseball golf soccer track and slow pitch. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:Bachelor of Arts in the educational area of a major study

CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS:Valid Oklahoma teaching certificate in the area of study. (Secondary History/Social Studies) preferred

Job Goal:Provide exceptional instruction to assigned students while working within the established policies and procedures of the district.

Evaluation:Annually Under Oklahoma Law (TLE)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Establishes and implements classroom procedures designed to maximize student learning in an environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
Prepares detailed weekly written lesson plans consistent with Oklahoma Academic Standards designed to teach skills on course curriculum maps and timely submits plans to the assignedprincipal.
Complies with and fully implements all Individualized Education Plans and behavioral or academic interventions.
Maintains a neat and orderly classroom including the physical arrangement of the room student records andmaterials.
Handles routine classroom discipline fairly.
Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and for the classroom develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior andprocedure and maintains order in the classroom fairly and justly.
Attends and participates in all required meetings and conferences including professional development and planning meetings and strives for professional growth.
Maintains complete and accurate student records including attendance performance and discipline records.
Provides professional and regular feedback to students and parents ensuring compliance with all laws and district policies and procedures and communicates regularly with parents through notes phone calls conferences etc.
Utilizes professional behavior in all schoolrelated interactions.
Complies with all federal state and local laws board policies and procedures.
Uses formative and summative data to guide instruction plans for student interventions and communicates progress to parents.
Provides individualized and small group instruction adapting the curriculum as needed.
Provides a technologyenriched environment to support student learning.
Maintains availability to students and parents for educationrelated purposes outside the instructional day.
Plans and coordinates the work of teacher assistants parents and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips.
Collaborates with other professionals to enrich and improve students academic progress.
Performs all other tasks as the supervisormay assign

Occasional Requirements:Lift/move up to 25 poundsability to administer CPR

Visual Requirements:Close color peripheral depth perception ability to adjust focus

Hearing/Speaking Requirements:Adequate to exchange information
