Job Description
Purpose
This position is responsible for designing developing and supporting smart home systems using modern platforms like Home Assistant and Crestron Home. The ideal candidate is passionate about home automation demonstrates strong problem-solving abilities and possesses hands-on experience in integrating a wide range of smart devices and protocols.
Work Overview
- Design and implement smart home automation systems using Home Assistant Crestron Home or similar platforms.
- Develop test and maintain automation workflows and integrations (e.g. lighting climate AV security).
- Work with MQTT Zigbee Z-Wave and IP-based protocols to integrate devices.
- Configure dashboards mobile interfaces and user experiences for homeowners.
- Collaborate with internal teams on new features system upgrades and client needs.
- Provide support for installations configurations and troubleshooting (remotely or on-site as needed).
- Research new technologies and propose system enhancements for performance and reliability.
Requirements
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- 2 years of experience in home automation engineering or related field.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of Home Assistant (YAML automations integrations).
- Experience with Crestron Home Control4 Savant or similar automation platforms.
- Understanding of smart home protocols: MQTT Zigbee Z-Wave KNX Modbus etc.
- Ability to write and debug configuration files (YAML JSON) and basic scripting (Python or Node-RED a plus).
- Familiarity with networking concepts (Wi-Fi static IPs port forwarding VLANs).
- Good documentation and communication skills.

- Willingness to work onsite on a 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM shift and observe the UAE holiday schedule.
Prerequisites Strong knowledge of ELV systems, particularly in: Structured Cabling: Expertise in Cat6 and fiber optic cabling. Home Automation: Familiarity with smart home technologies. Audio Systems: Experience with DANTE audio over IP. Visual Solutions: Knowledge of Audio Visual Teams meeting room solutions. Network Infrastructure: Understanding of network design, Wi-Fi systems, MDF/IDF networks. Office Automation: Proficiency in integrating automated office systems. HVAC Control: Experience in designing HVAC control systems. Proficiency in AutoCAD for drafting and design purposes. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Familiarity with estimation software and tools (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam). Experience working in the ELV contracting industry, ideally with a focus on BMS contracting. Understanding of local and international codes, standards, and regulations related to ELV systems and associated technologies. Excellent analytical and mathematical abilities for accurate cost estimation. Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in calculations and documentation. Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members. Ability to prepare clear and concise technical reports and proposals. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines. Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities. Problem-solving mindset with the capacity to work independently when required. Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) software (e.g., Revit) is a plus. Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
