Position Details:

The Opportunity:

The Agricultural Research Technologist provides detailed field laboratory and extension support for the Low Impact Development (LID) and stormwater research and extension program. Field research duties include configure install and maintain a variety of water quality/quantity equipment and instrumentation such as: autosamplers flow meters moisture sensors and dataloggers. Oversee field research facilities in terms of sample collection and landscape maintenance. Monitor record and manage data/databases utilizing a variety of jobrelated software. Laboratory support includes managing labs chemical supplies and equipment inventories. Summarizing data and writing research reports is also required. Extension work includes developing curriculum and designing online course spaces in Canvas through Global Campus and maintaining extension affiliated Washington State UniversityWSU)websites. Supervise and support timeslip temporary workers and grad students.

Field Research 30

ManageWSUPuyallup Research and Extension Centers permeable pavements bioretention cells and rainwater harvesting infrastructure. Research duties include: application of treatments collection of water soil plant tissue samples and data collection. Perform data quality assurance and chainofcustody processing. Perform calibration and maintenance procedures of field sampling and monitoring equipment. Maintain field plots through weeding pruning and irrigating as needed.

Extension 25

Develop and designLIDextension course work offered through Global Campus in conjunction with Washington State Department of Ecology and Washington Stormwater Center. Develop and author content forWSUextension websites and publications.

Laboratory Research 15

Duties include literature searches summarizing research and report writing organizing and maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies. Conduct routine statistical analysis of data.

Instruments/Equipment 15

Manage operate maintain and calibrate precise research equipment such as autosamplers flow meters weather station instrumentation pressure transducers and data loggers. Train all new students and staff in program specific equipment.

Other Duties 15

Write research reports. Meet with collaborating scientists attend technical meetings. Assist graduate students and other faculty/staff as needed. Establish and maintain accurate records for research projects equipment inventories and pesticide applications. Order supplies and materials as needed.

Additional Information:


This is a full time 100 FTE) permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.


Monthly Salary: $3910.00 $5241.00 Range 45 Steps AM

Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 35728.

In accordance with
RCW 49.58.110 the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidates current experience education skills and abilities related to the position.
