Key Responsibilities
As the Senior Accountant you will play a key role in overseeing and executing advanced accounting functions to ensure accuracy compliance and meaningful financial reporting. Your responsibilities will include:
Financial Reporting & MonthEnd Close:
- Lead the preparation and analysis of monthly quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable standards.
- Manage monthend close processes including journal entries reconciliations and variance analysis.
Audit & Compliance:
- Coordinate internal and external audits ensuring readiness and timely submission of all required documentation.
- Maintain internal controls and assist in updating financial policies and procedures to support risk management.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Collaborate with department leads to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Provide insights into financial trends and performance to support strategic planning initiatives.
Team Leadership & Mentorship:
- Provide guidance and support to junior accountants reviewing work for accuracy and helping develop their skills.
o Work crossfunctionally with finance operations and leadership teams to align financial strategies with organizational goals.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role candidates should demonstrate the following:
Education & Experience:
- A degree in Accounting Finance or a related field is required; CPA designation (or working toward it) is strongly preferred.
- 57 years of progressive accounting experience preferably in a multientity or professional services environment.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks NetSuite or similar ERP systems) and advanced Excel capabilities.
- Experience with financial reporting tools and knowledge of Canadian GAAP or IFRS.
Key Competencies:
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong analytical mindset.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and explain complex financial data in simple terms.
