Key Responsibilities

As the Senior Accountant you will play a key role in overseeing and executing advanced accounting functions to ensure accuracy compliance and meaningful financial reporting. Your responsibilities will include:

Financial Reporting & MonthEnd Close:

  • Lead the preparation and analysis of monthly quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Manage monthend close processes including journal entries reconciliations and variance analysis.

Audit & Compliance:

  • Coordinate internal and external audits ensuring readiness and timely submission of all required documentation.
  • Maintain internal controls and assist in updating financial policies and procedures to support risk management.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

  • Collaborate with department leads to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Provide insights into financial trends and performance to support strategic planning initiatives.

Team Leadership & Mentorship:

  • Provide guidance and support to junior accountants reviewing work for accuracy and helping develop their skills.
    o Work crossfunctionally with finance operations and leadership teams to align financial strategies with organizational goals.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role candidates should demonstrate the following:

Education & Experience:

  • A degree in Accounting Finance or a related field is required; CPA designation (or working toward it) is strongly preferred.
  • 57 years of progressive accounting experience preferably in a multientity or professional services environment.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks NetSuite or similar ERP systems) and advanced Excel capabilities.
  • Experience with financial reporting tools and knowledge of Canadian GAAP or IFRS.

Key Competencies:

  • Excellent attention to detail and a strong analytical mindset.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and explain complex financial data in simple terms.
