JOB DESCRIPTION
GROUNDSKEEPER
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate or Bachelors Degree in a related field preferred
- 3 years of relevant experience in landscaping and turf management
- Knowledge of methods materials and practices in landscaping turf management and horticulture
- Experience maintaining athletic playing fields
- Valid drivers license
- Valid Massachusetts Hoisting Engineer 1C2A license preferred
- Valid Massachusetts Pesticides license
- OSHA 30 preferred
- Familiar with the operation of all forms of farm and grounds maintenance equipment
- Familiar with hayfield management
- Ability to work independently and prioritize work tasks
REPORTS TO:
Manager of Farm and Grounds
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform all aspects of horticulture and grounds maintenance.
- Maintain athletic playing fields.
- Assist in the maintenance of the buildings on the campus.
- Plant and remove trees shrubs flowers and sod as required.
- Prepare area(s); install and repair walls fences irrigation systems and related landscape features.
- May be required to perform repairs to buildings and related structures including carpentry masonry painting and installation and removal of construction material.
- Perform general maintenance and repair of the farm buildings and the surrounding grounds under the direction of the Farm Manager.
- Perform snow removal and salting operations as required.
- Operate tractors hay balers and landscape machinery in accordance with accepted safety practices.
- Communicate inventory and supply needs to the Farm Manager.
- When assigned by the Farm Manager provide supervision for community use of grounds and fields.
- Assist with the feeding of livestock including horses on a twicedaily basisas assigned.
- Assist in the general care of all animals on the farm including sheep goats pigs chickens cows donkeys horses birds rodents and reptiles as assigned.
- Assist with the harvesting and stacking of hay bales.
- Maintain current Massachusetts Hoisting Engineer and Massachusetts Pesticide Commercial Applicator Licenses.
- Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities not inconsistent with the role as the Manager of Farm and Grounds may assign.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- This position is a twelvemonth position at 40 hours per week.
- This position is part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees Council 93 Local 245 and the School District.
