Education Adviser Early Years (South)

Permanent

Working 36.5 hours per week


We are seeking to appoint a Virtual School Advisor for Early Years and children in care in the South of the city. The work does also cover out of area pre school settings and child care providers

All about the role

You will be joining us as part of an exciting period of change and development as our service is growing into a new structure and roles. Key areas of responsibility are:

  • To act as an education advocate for a specific cohort of Looked After Children (Early Years aged 2 3 4 & 5 receiving education in an Ofsted registered setting residing both in and out of city.
  • To work in partnership with relevant agencies including Early Years Services in Birmingham and other LAs (where applicable) to prioritise early years education and support the education and welfare of our early years children
  • To actively develop strategies and programmes of support to improve the attainment of early years children and to support the social Emotional and mental health development for children in care including attachment and trauma informed practice in our early years settings so they can effectively support children in care
  • To coordinate effective education planning for preschool children in careand ensuring good transition into Key Stage 1 supporting schools to maintain the progress they have made and address any gaps in learning
  • To oversee and quality assure the termly Personal Education Plan process to ensure the child benefits from focused targets and use of Early Years Pupil Premium for children in the care of Birmingham; and contribute to the implementation monitoring and review of other plans such as EHCP with multi agency partners to meet the assessed needs of the young person in care or previously in care
