They implement a therapeutic and preventative program for all students and plan and use appropriate strategies that reflect the needs of middle school aged Objective:This position is responsible for delivering high quality medical and associated care through adherence to medical protocols and sound judgment consistent with the standards rules and regulations of the FreetownLakeville Regional School District as well as adherence to local state and federal :Administers basic health care and First Aid for the purpose of providing appropriate care for ill medically fragile and/or injured childrenAssesses and evaluates the health and developmental status of students for the purpose of identifying physical disorders and other factors affecting the learning processCollaborates with parents students health care providers and/or other agencies for the purpose of promoting needed treatment securing information and complying with legal requirementsConducts programs and/or activities (e.g. inservice training hearing vision color vision immunization review scoliosis screening etc. for the purpose of ensuring compliance with government mandated requirementsDesigns health maintenance plans for the purpose of addressing students health needs and implementing health care directions from parents and/or physiciansMaintains communication with parents and all involved community practitioners and agencies for the purpose of promoting needed treatment Maintains health care plans medical emergency information immunization records of all students for the purpose of ensuring compliance with state law and providing information required for transfer of records as neededMonitors all student medications administered at school as prescribed by a physicianRefers students and families requiring further medical attention and provides appropriate community resources of necessary services and assuring continuity of health service and careResponds to medical emergency situations for the purpose of addressing immediate safety concernsPerforms other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit Social/Civic Expectations:FreetownLakeville students and staff will: practice responsible citizenship; respect self and others; accept responsibility; and work Qualifications: Massachusetts DESE license in Nursing (grades 58)BA DegreePreferred Qualifications: Experience in the school settingDemonstrated experience supporting students with special needsCandidates who are licensed in another state will be considered if they qualify for the temporary license from DESE (must possess the equivalent license from another state and must have documented proof of working under that license for at least three complete school years).
