Under the supervision of the Director of Library Services the Librarian performs a variety of duties including providing Information Literacy services; selection circulation and maintenance of library materials; cataloging classifying and access of library materials. Performs multiple tasks and are required to work independently. Judgment and customer service skills are required in making decisions within established procedures. Daily responsibilities are completed independently using established policies and general objectives with occasional supervisory contact. Supervision received is general in nature using established policies and general objectives often referring to the supervisor for policy clarification or interpretation.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

Operational Management:Provides Information Literacy services to the college and community inperson and virtually including identifying library needs selecting information sources offering instructional support producing online print and audiovisual materials conducting sessions in collaboration with faculty members locating and circulating library materials including interlibrary loans and various other tasks. Ensures a high level of customer satisfaction by providing friendly knowledgeable assistance to students faculty and other library patrons. Resolves customer complaints or concerns in a timely and professional manner.Reviews and enforces Library policies and procedures hires trains and directs student workers to perform nonprofessional Library duties.

Collection Management: Manages the Librarys collection of print audiovisual and electronic resources. Evaluates existing collections and makes recommendations for additions withdrawals or replacements based on reviews patron input and statistical analysis and budgetary constraints. Maintains the organization and currency of the library collections including assigning call numbers and subject headings using the Dewey Decimal System checking for missing and inaccurate records and providing expert assistance to library patrons in conducting research locating information resources and navigating library databases.

Information Technology and Systems:Manages library systems and technologies including integrated library systems (ILS) discovery tools electronic resource management (ERM) systems and digital repositories.

Collaborates with district IT to troubleshoot technical issues implement system upgrades and enhance user experience. Assists with selection and management of technology and equipment in collaboration with IT staff for inlibrary oncampus and circulating use by patrons. Assists users with system usage training and troubleshooting. Stays abreast of emerging trends and best practices in library automation digital preservation and scholarly communication.

Fiscal Planning and Administration:Assists with planning and assessing Library financial activities including budget fund allocations; expense recording; budget forecasts; assisting in grant research and writing to fund Library programs and resources. Provides inservice training sessions for Library staff.

User Customer Service and Engagement:Ensures delivery of excellent customer service experiences including facetoface telephone online communication and webconferencing. Develops and implements outreach initiatives to promote library services resources and events to the college community including the creation of flyers pamphlets digital media and social media content . Collaborates with faculty to identify select and integrate library resources open educational resources and supplemental materials as well as digital and information literacy instruction into curriculum and course assignments. Advises on copyright related matters and collaborates with MATC Office of General Counsel as needed. Recruits faculty liaisons to provide feedback to the Library on materials policies and initiatives.

Ethics and Confidentiality:Practices honesty by demonstrating a consistent and uncompromising adherence to strong moral and ethical principles values truthfulness and accuracy in all actions. Addresses all student and employee behavior in a confidential and respectful manner.

Collaborative Teamwork and Stakeholder Relationship Management: Establishes maintains and enhances positive work relationships with staff faculty administrators thirdparty vendors and community members.

Continuous Learning & Professional Development: Maintains current knowledge of best practices and standards in higher education with an emphasis on community Colleges. Actively organizes and/or participates in applicable workgroups trainings workshops seminars committees and professional associations or conferences to promote continuous learningincluding participating in College Advising center specific programming

Other duties: Performs other related duties within the scope of the position as required for the efficient operation of the division and to support institutional objectives.

Qualifications

Compliance with all state federal and accreditation standards/requirements as well as all MATC policies and procedures.

Required Education & Experience: Masters degree in library or information science from an institution of higher education accredited by the American Library Association and two years 2 years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience to provide the following knowledge skills and abilities.

Ability to convey an image of professionalism and dedication in work related activities.

Ability to work with culturally diverse student employee and community populations.

Proficiency in the use of computers and software specific to position including Blackboard Springshare Sierra Microsoft Office Suite programs and Google Suite.

Ability to work successfully with minimal supervision and serve in a leadership role to others.

Ability to effectively organize work by establishing workflows managing multiple projects and meeting necessary deadlines.

Start Date
This position supports the Academic Services Department and is available starting as soon as possible.

Hours
This position is a 1.0 FTE or 40 hours per work week. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8am 4:30pm. This position is based out of the West Allis Campus.

Salary
Salary is listed to the midpoint of the salary range and is based on the 2023/2024 rates and are determined by years of experience credit and internal salary equity.
