Job Description

This position is for theschool year. Salary is based on the adopted salary schedule for the 2425 school year at this time (starting salary $44200. We accept all previous years in certificated teaching roles as steps on the salary schedule. The Fort Osage School District prioritizes a highly competitive salary schedule with additional benefits including optional fully paid health insurance career ladder stipends (up to $5000 extra duty stipend opportunities and more. New teachers mentor program available for all first and second year teachers.

Must hold a valid Missouri English for Speakers of Other Languages Teaching Certificate

Experience working with ELL students is preferred but not required.

eacher will have assigned caseload of students ranging in ages but will likely service primarily elementary students.

Purpose Statement

The job of TeacherELL is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional process by serving as ateacher with specific responsibility for developing English language users to effectively perform courses of study in the English language; supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines;collaborating with other teachers othe professional staff and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.

Essential Functions

  • Adapts classroom work for the purpose of providing students with instructional strategies and methods andmaterials that address individualized learning plans within established lesson plans.
  • Administerstests and language assesssments for the purpose of evaluating students language ability.
  • Advises parents and/or legal guardians of studen tprogress for the purpose of communicating expectations; students achievements; developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment.
  • Assesses student progress toward standards expectations and/or goals for the purpose of providingfeedback to students parents and administration.
  • Collaborates with instructional staff other school personnel parents and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes and achievingestablished classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan.
  • Counsels students for the purpose of improving performance attendance problem solving techniques anda variety of personal issues.
  • Demonstrates methods required to perform classroom and/or subject specific assignments forthe purpose of providing an effective program that addresses individual student requirements.
  • Develops andmaintains accurate professional District and student records (e.g. reprts individual plans etc) for the purpose of ensurin compliance with District state and federal requirements.
  • Directs assistant teachers student teachers instructional assistants volunteersand/or student workers for the purpose of providing an effective classroom program and addressing theneeds of individual students.
  • InstructsEnglish language learners for the purpose of improving their successin academics and skills.
  • Models English communication for the purpose of developing student ability to communicate effectively in the English language.
  • Monitors students in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classroomplayground field trips etc. for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Participates in a variety of meetings and professional development workshops for the purpose of conveyingand/or gathering information required to perform functions.
  • Prepares and maintains a variety of confidential and nonconfidential materials (e.g. grades attendance anecdotal records etc. for the purpose of providingfeedback documenting student progress and meeting local state and federal data collection requirements.
  • Reports incidents (e.g. fights suspected child abuse suspected substance abuse etc. for the purpose ofmaintaining personal safety of students providing a positive learning environment and adhering to school policies.
  • Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources (e.g. other teachers parents administrators etc. for thepurpose of resolving issues and providing information and/or direction.
  • Supports classroom teachers for the urpose of assisting them in the implementation of established curriculum and/or individual student plans.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; directing

other persons within a small work unit; monitoring budget expenditures. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the jobs functions. There is some opportunity to effect the organizations services.

Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: occasional

lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling significant stooping kneeling crouching and/or crawling and significant fine

finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 20 sitting 40 walking and 40 standing. The job is performed in a

generally hazard free environment and in a clean atmosphere.
