Your determination to deliver quality and accuracy will improve health outcomes that people and communities depend on now and in the Specific InformationOur global Clinical Operations colleagues within our PPD clinical research services provide endtoend support for clinical trials from study start up to monitoring through to study close out across commercial and government contracts. Together we help clients define and develop clinical programs minimize delays and execute highquality costefficient clinical Impactful Work:Working under the direction of the chief physician/investigator and under the general supervision of the paramedics Manager ensures subject safety health and wellbeing. Continually monitors the subject population at all times noting and treating adverse events (AEs) as needed. Determines when/if an adverse event should be brought to the attention of the physician/investigator.A day in the Life:Provides basic and advanced medical care both emergent and nonemergent to all study subjects as appropriate. Independently directs the resuscitation and stabilization of a subject in any lifethreatening situation using both accepted medical protocols and any study specific treatmentsMonitors and records Adverse Events (AEs). Reviews all active AEs prior to dose of study drug and determines if it is safe for subject to proceed with study procedures and/or dosing. If subject safety is in question may confer with operational management and or the physician/investigator for additionalinstruction and/or directive. Reviews all active adverse events daily. Delivers a daily report of AEs to the physiciansActs as primary subject safety contact for all study subjects in the Clinic Monitors cardiac telemetry for potentially serious arrhythmia and intervenes as necessaryMay performs technical procedures in the Phase I unit including blood collectionvital signs and ECGsMay assist Project Managers Physicians and study teams in the logistical planning of study conduction workflowsMay perform all forms of dosing including IV IM SQ and oralAssesses out of range values for symptomology and may medically intervene should study subjects safety be in questionKeys to Success:EducationHigh / Secondary school diploma or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualificationTexas Licensed/Certified EMTParamedic and American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification experience that provides the knowledge skills and abilities to perform the job (comparable to at least 4 years which should include 3 years experience as a Paramedic on an ALS unit and/or in a clinical setting).In some cases an equivalency consisting of a combination of appropriate education training and/or directly related experience will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the Skills AbilitiesStrong paramedic skills including airway management and injections (intramuscular intradermal and subcutaneous)Strong interpersonal skillsStrong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff management and physicians in a professional and credible mannerAbility to effectively manage multiple complex tasksAbility to effectively and competently manage emergency medical situationsAbility to perform advanced medical care both emergent and nonemergentPhysical Requirements / Work EnvironmentWork is performed in a clinical to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious require long and varied working stands twists waists squats and bends neck for 46 hours per hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast simple repeated movements of the fingers hands and wrists. Ability to make precise coordinated movements of the fingers to grasp and manipulate mobility crouching stooping bending and twisting of upper body and lifting (or otherwise movement carrying setting and placement)of 1530 lbs. with a maximum lift of 35 to access and use a variety of computer software developed both inhouse and to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and interact with others relating and gathering sensitive information. Interaction includes diverse with guidance or reliance on oral or written instructions from management. May require periods of intense a wide range of variable tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions with little predictability as to the occurrence. Ability to perform under stress.
