Your Role at Baxter

The engineering manager is responsible for implementing and supervising engineering activities at the Cleveland Plant while maintaining compliance with the current manufacturing practices (cGMPs) environmental health and safety (EHS) guidelines and any other regulations that could apply. Candidate is expected to get results to support plant strategic imperatives. They must enforce company rules and regulations and promote Baxter Values within their shift. Candidate is expected to coach/mentor employees to drive performance. Candidate must be able to prepare and present technical reports and trends. They must have the ability to manage multiple priorities in a manufacturing plant setting and prioritize responsibilities of self and direct reports appropriately. They must have organization and administrative skills.

Your Team

Clevelands technology and automation is innovative. It is the U.S. sole source for plastic pour bottles glass IV and various reconstitution devices. This facility produces a number of major product lines with a diverse array of automated manufacturing technologies ranging from bottle solution filling injection molding tubing extrusion and device assembly.

What youll be doing:

• Responsible for engineering and drafting departments.
• Supervise lead and coordinate engineering activities directly or through direct reporting supervisors.
• Provide project engineering/process engineering resources to support facility manufacturing operations.
• Integral part of the manufacturing technical response plan for equipment maintenance/reliability. To include response coordination solving remediation and reporting as needed for Cleveland facility.
• Drive performance with employees by providing a positive and equitable work environment emphasizing respect responsiveness and results as well as applying the talent management process.
• Support and maintain all environmental health and safety programs as well as all other plant activities to ensure a robust safety culture and environmental regulatory compliance.
• Must have knowledge of both plant and department environmental health and safety laws and follow said regulations accordingly.
• Facilitate and verify appropriate training for all team members (including but not limited to safety cGMPs job
• skillsJIBsetc..
• Inspect monitor assess and assure the facility and manufacturing equipment remains cGMP compliant and in a constant state of audit readiness.
• Ensure assigned projects and work (i.e. corrective actions exception reports meeting action items etc. are completed per the commitment date.
• Analyze propose and correct longterm solutions to existing and repeating problems.
• Drive the procurement and installation of new equipment.
• Coordinate oversee and manage contractors as needed to meet the responsibilities of the department.
• Support and encourage all plant activities i.e. VIP TPM 6S Lean QOS teams plant growth and development.
• Must perform all other duties and responsibilities as determined by supervision/management.

What youll bring

• BS degree in engineering subject area with 57 years of manufacturing engineering experience or equivalent manufacturing experience.
• 5 years of demonstrated effective supervisory skills.
• 5 years engineering/manufacturing experience. FDA/cGMP experience preferred.
• Must have demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to interface well with personnel of all levels.
• Must have ability to understand and follow cGMPs FDA guidelines and other regulatory guidelines applicable to the medical/pharmaceutical industry.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a manufacturing setting and prioritize responsibilities of self and direct reports appropriately.
• Must be able to supervise multiple groups/departments.
• Able to work and facilitate a teamoriented environment.
• Possess problem solving skills using cause mapping and A3s.
• Have organizational and administrative skills.
• Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
• The ability to analyze and interpret scientific and statistical data.
• Must have strong skills for operation and controls of manufacturing equipment and processes.
• In general the position requires a combination of administrative work and walking around observing conditions in the facility and following up on work being performed by engineers and other technical support staff.
• Able to work in controlled environment requiring special gowning. Will be required to follow gowning requirements and wear protective clothing over the head face hands feet and body.
• Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project experience is preferred.
• Project Management experience is preferred.
• Six Sigma Master Black Belt Certification or industry standard equivalent is preferred.
• Lean Manufacturing skills and experience is preferred.

At Baxter we are committed to equitable pay for all employees and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $120000 $165000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location skills and expertise experience and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
