Job Description

Are you an experienced and passionate SENCO looking to make a real difference in a supportive primary school We are seeking a Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join our vibrant school community in Croydon starting September 2025. What Youll Be Doing

As SENCO you will:

  • Lead SEN Provision: Oversee and develop the schools SEN provision ensuring that all students with special educational needs receive appropriate support and interventions.
  • Work Closely with Staff: Collaborate with teachers to develop tailored teaching strategies and support plans for students with SEN.
  • Assess and Monitor Progress: Lead the identification assessment and tracking of students with SEN ensuring progress is consistently monitored and interventions are effectively implemented.
  • Provide Training and Guidance: Support and train staff on SENrelated issues ensuring that the whole school community understands the needs of students with SEN and how to best support them.
  • Collaborate with Parents and External Agencies: Build strong relationships with parents and carers providing regular updates on their childs progress and working with external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for students.
  • Develop Individual Learning Plans: Create and implement individual education plans (IEPs) for students with SEN ensuring they are reviewed regularly.
  • Support Inclusive Practice: Promote an inclusive culture where every childs needs are recognized and valued helping to remove barriers to learning.

What Were Looking For

We are looking for a SENCO who:

  • Holds the National SENCO Award or is in the process of completing it.
  • Has experience working with children with special educational needs ideally in a primary school setting.
  • Has a strong understanding of SEND legislation including the SEND Code of Practice and experience in implementing the graduated approach to SEN.
  • Is passionate about inclusive education and ensuring all children have the opportunity to achieve their potential.
  • Has excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff parents and external professionals.
  • Is organised able to manage a diverse range of tasks and priorities and can lead SEN initiatives effectively.
  • Is committed to continuous professional development and keeping up to date with the latest SEN research and strategies.
