This position reports to the Aerospace N. America Operations Manager. The Senior Specialist is an individual contributor within the Underwriting Support Unit of the units field operations. The role is responsible for performing tasks that directly support the underwriting team. As the owner and principal facilitator of assigned accounts the Senior Specialist will perform front end activities throughout the life cycle of renewal and prospect accounts from submission to bind. They will operate with a high degree of independence from the underwriter except in circumstances where underwriting authority is required. This role will possess a mastery of commercial Casualty insurance knowledge related to LOB portfolio.
In addition to the traditional Underwriting Assistant and Sr. Underwriting Assistant duties (see descriptions below) the Senior Specialist will:
Work independently on the largest and most complex accounts with limited direction from the underwriters team lead and/or underwriting managers.
Reviews and analyzes the most complex premium allocations from clients and brokers and responds to all queries related to regulatory compliance structure fees and progress .
Develop skills knowledge and competencies of the underwriting assistants through coaching and providing feedback in cooperation with the team leader and/or underwriting manager.
Serves as the subject matter expert for the company and departmental projects or initiatives.
Participates and/or leads underwriting project teams providing progress summaries and updates to the leadership team.
Participates in user acceptance testing and other special projects as needed applying their expert understanding of systems tools and processes.
Works with the underwriting assistants to resolve data quality errors.
Provides ongoing training to the UAs through 11 and group sessions in cooperation with Team Lead and/or manager.
Job Requirements:
Bachelors degree or 5 years of related Commercial Insurance experience.
Must have experience working in the Aerospace insurance area.
Advanced knowledge of commercial insurance policy forms and regulatory requirements.
Advanced knowledge of reinsurance structures.
Advanced proficiency in MS office applications and Adobe Standard required.
Appropriate combination of commercial insurance rating coding and underwriting assistant skills.
Advanced knowledge of AIGs insurance operating systems which are used to rate code track and/or issue insurance policies.
Proactive independent work ethic with strong time management problem solving and analytical skills.
Must demonstrate the ability to multitask and work under limited supervision.
Demonstrated excellent marketing influencing negotiating and communication skills in dealing with Csuite leaders.
Prioritizing able to navigate and switch between multiple proprietary vendor webbased and standard computer systems.
Microsoft Office proficiency in Excel Word and Powerpoint

Client Servicing ability to anticipate client (internal and external) needs and act proactively.
