Job Description
Amazon Web Services is seeking top industry technical experts to grow our team dedicated to expanding our Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2 Container and Serverless offerings to government customers. We are seeking a talented engineer skilled in the art of integration who understands the Agile mindset and DevOps philosophies yet is not constrained by how things are usually done and is willing to decompose and reinvent systems processes and tools. Were looking for a technical expert for one of the largest compute services on the planet; if you possess that rare mix of depth in Development Containers and Systems Engineering then we are waiting for your application.

This position requires that the candidate selected must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance. The position further requires that after start the selected candidate obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph or commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

Discovering new ways to improve operations and assist development of new solutions to solve technically complex cloud issues at scale for our customers
Proactively help drive solutions to system variances that will affect major services worldwide
Diving deep into service interdependencies and region specific configurations to find the root of a problems as well as increasing service efficiency
Working with and through others to optimize maintaining the worlds most advanced cloud computing infrastructure
Studying and learning from industry recognized Amazon distinguished engineers
A day in the life
On a typical day as a Senior System Development Engineer (SysDev) you will contribute to development efforts across internal service teams to improve system health and status maintainability operational efficiency tooling and product builds. Additionally you will support complex customer technical challenges and impact global solutions to these advanced problems. As a member of the Amazon Dedicated Cloud community you will provide oncall support when necessary across Serverless technology stacks.
The team focuses on the growth and delivery of the Elastic Kubernetes Service as well as the Elastic Container Registry. We thrive in a high trust environment with our internal service teams moving quickly together to solve issues through code and drive positive customer experiences with the highly requested services we support. The team itself has formed in response to related services seeing significant growth over recent years thus we value agility and those with natural drive to solve emergent challenges.

2 years of noninternship professional software development experience
1 years of designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Bachelors degree or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional)
Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C C# Java Python Golang PowerShell Ruby
Current active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above
Experience with distributed systems at scale
Experience building services using AWS products
Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology
Experience working with Kubernetes or other container orchestration technology

The base pay for this position ranges from $116300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201200/year in our highest geographic market.
