Salary: $125798 $145000 per year
Responsibilities:
Solve complex engineering problems in civil and heave underground construction and perform sophisticated structural analysis including dynamic analysis to find effective solutions and increase client confidence in final designs. Assess potential structural damage under extreme events utilizing commercial simulation software including LSDYNA and ADINA. Perform multidimensional dynamic soilstructureinteraction analyses using LSDYNA and programming tools including MATLAB and MathCAD. Prepare structural design calculations and reports for tunnels shafts foundations temporary excavation support systems and other types of underground structures. Write technical memoranda and other documents explaining the basis for structural designs. Review contractor submittals such as drawings and specifications for structural designs. Develop numerical analysis framework within depth knowledge of finite element method and finite difference method for simulating behavior of ground including soil and rock based on the soilstructure interaction approach. Participate in the Quality Assurance and Quality Control process for structural design prior to submittal to the client. Position may include additional duties that utilize the required skills. Position requires incidental travel to companys San Francisco office as well as unanticipated construction and field sites within the San Jose San FranciscoOakland combined Statistical Area. Telecommuting permitted up to 40; employee must reside within normal commuting distance of companys office in Walnut Creek California.
Qualifications:
Requires a Masters or foreign equivalent degree in Civil Engineering Structural Engineering Construction Management or a related field and two years of experience in:
- Assessing potential structural damage under extreme events utilizing commercial simulation software including LSDYNA and ADINA;
- Developing engineering solutions for potential structural damage using computational packages including MathCAD and Excel;
- Performing multidimensional dynamic soilstructureinteraction analyses using commercial numerical code LSDYNA and programming tools including MATLAB and MathCAD; and
- Developing numerical analysis framework for simulating behavior of ground including soil and rock using commercial numerical code ADINA.
Will accept paid or unpaid internship research or coop experience gained during academic studies.
Position requires incidental travel to companys San Francisco office as well as unanticipated construction and field sites within the San Jose San FranciscoOakland combined Statistical Area. Telecommuting permitted up to 40; employee must reside within normal commuting distance of companys office in Walnut Creek California.
