What will you do
- Commercial and Real Estate Transactions: Assisting with the negotiation drafting and of agreements related to property acquisitions dispositions leasing and various commercial ventures
- Finance and Investment Advising: Supporting the provision of legal counsel on financial matters investments and related transactions
- PublicPrivate Partnerships: Contributing to the legal aspects of collaborative projects between the City and private sector entities
- Expropriation Law: Participating in matters related to the acquisition of private property for public purposes ensuring compliance with relevant legislation
- Bylaw Drafting: Assisting with the creation review and amendment of municipal bylaws
- Intellectual Property Law: Providing support on matters related to trademarks copyrights and other intellectual property rights
- Tendering and Procurement: Contributing to the legal oversight of the Citys procurement processes ensuring fairness and compliance
- Corporate Structure and Governance Issues: Assisting with legal matters related to the Citys corporate structure governance and compliance obligations
- Personal Injury Litigation: Supporting the defense and prosecution of personal injury claims involving the City
- Real Property Litigation: Assisting with legal disputes related to real estate property rights and land use
- Construction Litigation: Contributing to the resolution of legal disputes arising from construction projects
- Bylaw Challenges Enforcement and Prosecutions: Participating in legal proceedings related to bylaw enforcement and challenges
- Assessment and Taxation: Assisting with legal matters related to property assessment and taxation
- Human Resources and Employment Advising/Hearings: Providing legal support and advice on human resources and employment matters including participation in hearings
- Environmental Law: Contributing to the legal aspects of environmental compliance and related issues
Additional Information:
- The City will cover the cost of your Alberta Law Society membership Practice Readiness Education Program (PREP) tuition as well as any time off required to complete inperson PREP modules
- While future employment is not guaranteed the Legal Services Branch has a history of offering opportunities to qualified articling students and many current senior lawyers previously articled with the City

- Applicants must be currently or have been enrolled in an accredited Faculty of Law have successfully completed the program by the commencement of their articles and be eligible to article as a studentatlaw within the Province of Alberta
