General Summary of the Position
Holy Family Catholic Academy a candidate for authorization as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School and a ministry of Holy Family of Nazareth Catholic Parish is seeking a faithfilled dynamic Kindergarten Teacher for theschool year. Candidates with IB experience are preferred; however candidates willing to learn attend IB professional development and implement IB approaches to teaching and learning are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities of the Position
- Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of Holy Family Catholic Academy.
- Serve as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
- Engage in ongoing professional and spiritual growth through participation in religious ceremonies training sessions and reflection activities.
- Plan guide and evaluate the learning process using logically sequenced objectives aligned with the adopted curriculum and IB framework.
- Provide engaging instructional materials and use effective researchbased teaching methods.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Assess student progress using varied formative and summative assessments.
- Maintain current accurate student records according to school policies.
- Foster a positive wellmanaged classroom environment through consistent discipline practices.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents regarding academic progress behavior and classroom expectations.
- Maximize availability to students parents and colleagues through a professional work schedule.
- Fulfill other duties as assigned by the principal.
- Abide by all policies outlined in the Catholic Schools Office Handbook of Policies and Procedures and TCCB ED standards
Qualifications
- Knowledge of the basic teachings of the Catholic Church
- Knowledge of instructional methods/strategies and curriculum differentiation
- Knowledge of child and adolescent development learning and behavior
- Knowledge of the content and the methods of religious education
- Knowledge of effective assessment methods
- Able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form
- Able to work well with others in the school community
- Able to work independently and selfmotivate
- Skill in handling multiple tasks simultaneously
- Skill in organizing and relating information in an understandable format
- Skill in job appropriate technology
- Skill in critical thinking and planning
- Skill in managing conflicts effectively
- Skill in organizational management and delegation of responsibilities
- Skill in using group process skills effectively with various school communities
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in subject taught or related field from an accredited American university required
- Must meet the minimum requirements for teaching field as set forth by the Diocese and TCCB ED.
- Must meet staff development guidelines as set forth by the Diocese and school administration.
- Must complete Religion Certification per the guidelines of the Catholic Schools Office and TCCB ED if applicable.
Special Requirements:
- Preferred practicing Catholic in good standing.
- Must demonstrate openness to Catholic teachings.
- Preferred experience in or be willing to learn and implement the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) framework
