Position Summary:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Prevention Education and Outreach Specialist to join
our team. Reporting to the Director of Prevention Education and Outreach the Prevention
Education and Outreach Specialist will provide education and support to the NSU community
regarding issues related to sex and genderbased violence.
The Prevention Education and Outreach Specialist will design and deliver evidencebased
programming conduct training and education sessions collaborate with various campus
stakeholders and lead outreach efforts to promote a supportive informed and safe campus
environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Education and Training: Design develop and deliver evidencebased programming
related to sex and genderbased violence ensuring it is accessible and relevant to the
NSU community. Provide training and workshops for students faculty and staff on
topics such as prevention resources and bystander intervention.
Outreach and Collaboration: Work with campus departments student organizations
and local community partners to promote awareness of sex and genderbased violence
issues. Foster a collaborative environment by engaging with various stakeholders to
ensure effective outreach and support efforts.
Support Services: Offer guidance and assistance to individuals impacted by sex and
genderbased violence ensuring they are connected to appropriate resources and
support services. Maintain confidentiality and provide a traumainformed approach.
Advocacy and Awareness Campaigns: Lead and coordinate comprehensive
awareness campaigns and initiatives designed to educate the campus community about
sex and genderbased violence. Develop strategies to reduce the incidence of violence
on campus by increasing knowledge fostering prevention efforts and encouraging
bystander intervention. Collaborate with campus organizations faculty staff and student
groups to ensure these campaigns reach diverse populations and create a culture of
safety respect and support across the university.
Development and Supervision of Peer Education Program: Develop implement and
oversee a comprehensive peer education program focused on sex and genderbased
violence prevention. Recruit train and support peer educators who will assist in
delivering programs workshops and outreach activities. Provide ongoing guidance
mentorship and professional development opportunities to peer educators to ensure the
success and sustainability of the program.
Assessment and Evaluation: Monitor the effectiveness of prevention programs and
outreach initiatives. Collect data and feedback to continually improve and adjust
educational strategies and resources. Ensure that all programs align with university
policies and legal requirements.
Reporting and Compliance: Maintain accurate records of training sessions
workshops and outreach efforts. Ensure that all activities comply with Title IX Clery Act
and other relevant state and federal regulations.
Additional Responsibilities and Committee Participation: Perform other duties as
assigned and serve on university committees as appointed
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelors degree
Experience with facilitation across inperson and virtual platforms with an understanding
of prevention of sexual misconduct relationship violence and bystander intervention.
Easily and independently adopts emerging technologies and has demonstrated
experience using products such as Zoom Canva Photoshop Microsoft Suite including
Teams. Familiarity with design and social media platform best practices.
Experience in evaluating program effectiveness and making datadriven
recommendations for improvement.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect with a
diverse audience.
Experience developing and delivering educational programs and training sessions
particularly in the context of sexual violence prevention.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Familiarity with best practices in sexual violence prevention and bystander intervention
strategies.
Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders including students staff faculty
and community partners.

Additional Considerations
Masters degree in Public Health Social Work Counseling or a related field.
Previous experience working in sexual violence prevention or related fields.
Functional knowledge of relevant laws and practices such as Campus Save Title IX
and VAWA.
