Job Description
We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Assistant Sommelier to join our team. The Assistant Sommelier will assist the Head Sommelier in providing exemplary wine service wine pairings and tastings to our valued guests at this super modern fine dining restaurant.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Sommelier in curating and updating the wine list ensuring it complements the cuisine and meets guest preferences
- Provide professional and attentive wine service to guests making recommendations and providing descriptions of the wine offerings
- Assist in conducting wine tastings and educational sessions for staff and guests
- Maintain a deep understanding of different wine regions varietals and producers
- Collaborate with the culinary team to develop and recommend wine pairings for menu items
- Assist in the management of the wine inventory and storage ensuring proper rotation and storage conditions
Qualifications
- Certification from a reputable sommelier program is highly preferred
- Proven experience in a similar role demonstrating a strong understanding of wine and wine service
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently engage with guests and colleagues
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fastpaced and dynamic environment while maintaining composure and professionalism
- Commitment to upholding diversity equality and inclusion in all aspects of the role
DaytoDay
- Greeting and seating guests as well as presenting and opening wine bottles tableside
- Assisting guests in making informed decisions about wine selections
- Participating in wine training and educational workshops to enhance wine knowledge
- Collaborating with the kitchen team to ensure wine pairings complement the menu
- Conducting daily inventory checks and maintaining wine storage areas
