Job Duties:
In partnership with people with disabilities the Division of Rehabilitative Services (DRS) assists individuals with disabilities to make informed choices that will maximize their employment through coordinated service delivery. DRS staff will assist the Virginia Career Works Network to deliver quality workforce services to individuals with disabilities who want to work and employers seeking to hire them.
We are seeking to hire multiple Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors (StudentYouth Caseload) to provide preemployment transition services (PreETS) which result in successful transitions of students and youth with disabilities to postsecondary life. This includes successful transitions to postsecondary education/training competitive integrated employment and enhanced independent living outcomes. Caseload consists of students and youth with all types of disabilities.

In accordance with 34 CFR 361.10 34 CFR 361.11 and Virginias Combined State Plan under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) applicants are required to have a masters degree in rehabilitation counseling or a closely related field. Applicants within a semester of completing their masters may also be considered. Transcripts must accompany the application and they must display the date that the degree was awarded.
Considerable knowledge of social economic medical vocational educational and emotional issues impacting students with disabilities; interviewing and counseling techniques; methods and tools for career counseling and exploration; and the principles and practices of vocational service delivery to students with disabilities age 1424.
