Job Description

Lead and inspire a year group in our outstanding Barking school! Preference for candidates with a background in core subjects.

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated teacher ideally with a background in English Maths or Science to join our pastoral team as a Head of Year. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in the academic progress wellbeing and personal development of our students within our supportive and highachieving school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide outstanding pastoral care and guidance to a designated year group.
  • Monitor and support the academic progress of students working closely with subject teachers.
  • Promote high standards of behaviour attendance and engagement.
  • Liaise effectively with parents carers and external agencies.
  • Lead a team of form tutors to ensure consistent support for students.
  • Contribute to the wider pastoral provision and ethos of the school.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience of effective teaching at secondary level ideally in a core subject (English Maths Science).
  • Strong pastoral skills and a genuine commitment to student wellbeing.
  • Excellent communication interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team of form tutors.
