Job Description

Champion the academic and personal development of a year group at our outstanding Barking school! We are particularly interested in applications from teachers of English Maths or Science.

Our outstanding school in Barking is seeking a dedicated and highly effective teacher ideally with a specialism in English Maths or Science to take on the rewarding and influential role of Head of Year. You will be a key advocate for your students ensuring they receive the support and guidance they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be the key point of contact for a designated year group providing both academic and pastoral support.
  • Track and analyse student progress implementing interventions as needed.
  • Work proactively to address issues related to behaviour attendance and wellbeing.
  • Liaise effectively with parents and carers to build strong homeschool partnerships.
  • Lead and develop a team of form tutors to provide consistent support for students.
  • Contribute to the schools commitment to raising achievement and promoting student development.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A strong record of effective teaching at secondary level with a preference for candidates from core subject disciplines.
  • A genuine passion for supporting the holistic development of young people.
  • Excellent communication interpersonal and advocacy skills.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate others.
