Job Description

Shape the success and wellbeing of a year group at our outstanding Barking school! We welcome applications from teachers of core subjects.

Our outstanding school in Barking is seeking a dedicated and proactive individual preferably a teacher of English Maths or Science to take on the rewarding role of Head of Year. You will be instrumental in fostering a positive and aspirational culture within your year group ensuring all students thrive academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the pastoral care and academic progress of a designated year group.
  • Work closely with students parents and staff to address individual needs and challenges.
  • Analyse student data to identify trends and implement targeted interventions.
  • Promote a strong sense of community and belonging within the year group.
  • Line manage form tutors and support their professional development.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of schoolwide pastoral initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience of effective teaching at secondary level with a preference for core subject specialism.
  • Strong understanding of pastoral care principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication problemsolving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to lead and inspire both students and adults.
