What We Offer
The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $23.33 $35.00 an hour. New hires are typically brought into the organization between $25.00$28.00 an hour. We also offer generous benefits for fulltime employees which include but are not limited to:

Location
In this position you can expect to report to work inperson of either the office or in the field throughout the City and County of Denver where needed 5 days per week.

We are currently hiring an Equipment Operator I for the Department of Transportation & Infrastructures (DOTI) Traffic Construction/Maintenance teams.
DOTI Traffic construction maintenance team is responsible for the operation maintenance installation and emergency repair of traffic control devices. They also operate the Transportation Management Center and are responsible for signals electronics repair utility locates sign installation sign manufacturing and pavement markings.
Equipment Operators
- The entry level crew leaders for the Utility Worker 1&2 teammates
- Perform semiskilled and light to heavy physical labor on a variety of construction maintenance and repair projects
- PRETrip and PostTrip in the operation of medium to heavy weight equipment powered by engines for maintenance and minor to major construction projects installations of traffic caisson traffic boxes fiber boxes conduit traffic cabinets pulling traffic wire in conduit removal and replacement of concrete asphalt participate in snow duty
- Will assist and participate under supervision of traffic signal technicians or supervisor in the installations of traffic mast arm traffic signal heads various traffic components all by using various types of equipment bucket truck auger truck etc.
- Perform minor repairs on gardening and grounds equipment vehicles and machinery including
- repairs of sprinkler systems and may design and fabricate equipment and tools as needed
- Place and remove barricades cones and other traffic control and safety devices in and around work areas for construction and maintenance projects in accordance with traffic regulation requirement
- Perform other related duties as assigned

Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience skills and characteristics:
- Previous experience with street maintenance and other laborrelated tasks
- Experience working in various weather conditions (snow rain heat etc. and environments (dust fumes etc.
- Knowledge of city of Denver streets/alleys and use of maps
- Desire to promote to other positions within the department
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED HiSET or TASC Certificate.
- Experience Requirement: Two 2 years of general labor experience which must include six 6 months of experience operating light to medium sized equipment.
- Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate experience may be substituted for the minimum education requirements.
- License/Certifications: This job requires driving. Requires a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL B) with appropriate endorsements at the time of application.
- Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
