You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is seeking a motivated Highway Maintenance Specialist to join our Maintenance Team in Lander Wyoming. In this important role you will perform a variety of roadway maintenance duties under limited supervision helping to provide a safe highquality and efficient transportation system for the traveling public.
Lander once a small military post known as Camp Augur played a key role for immigrants traveling through South Pass. Today Lander is renowned for its natural beauty and ideal location at the base of the Wind River Mountains. It offers an abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities including fishing hunting camping ATVing rock climbing hiking snowmobiling and crosscountry skiing. Just seven miles from town youll find Sinks Canyon State Parkone of Wyomings most celebrated state parks. In addition to its outdoor appeal Wyoming is one of only nine states with no personal income tax making it an even more attractive place to live and work.
As a Highway Maintenance Specialist you will help keep Wyomings roadways safe and functional by performing tasks such as routine and emergency road maintenance operating and maintaining equipment and vehicles and working in all weather conditions. Ideal candidates will bring experience in maintenance work heavy equipment operation and a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.

PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS
Preference may be given to applicants with a current Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements before employment.
**Must have a Class A CDL within 30 days from the date of hire.
**Must have the ability to obtain a Certification to operate specified equipment as directed by WYDOT.
**Must have the ability to obtain a Certificate of course completion of Defensive Driving.
**Must have the ability to obtain a First Aid/CPR certification.
**Must have the ability to obtain a Flagger certification.
**Must have the ability to obtain and maintain water and wastewater certifications if necessary.
KNOWLEDGE:
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Temporary employees are accepting a fulltime position.
Current employees accepting a promotional opportunity recruitment must have been opened to the public.
One year of service to WYDOT must be completed; failure to complete this requirement will forfeit the hiring incentive and funds will be recouped from final pay.
Internal candidates would be required to remain in the position for a minimum of one 1 year from their promotion date.
Employees would only be eligible for one 1 hiring bonus in a 12month period.
If the employee elects to downgrade through an active recruitment and/or appointment during the twelve 12 month period they would be required to pay the bonus back.
