PHYS 201: PHYSICS OF MECHANICS AND SOUND

The Department of Physics at California State University San Marcos seeks a parttime lecturer for Fall 2025 to teach PHYS 201: Physics of Mechanics and Sound.

Course Description

A broad coverage of the principles of mechanics and wave motion. The areas covered include: observation and measurement kinematics dynamics work and energy impulse and momentum equilibrium of rigid bodies rotational motion oscillations and waves in mechanical media.

Minimum qualifications:

  • A masters degree or equivalent professional experience in Physics and related fields
  • Per the California State Universitys OutofState Employment Policy the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSUrelated work outside California. Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.

Preferred qualifications:

  • A doctorate or equivalent in Physics and related fields
  • Experience teaching similar courses in 4year universities
  • Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated commitment to diversity inclusivity and/or intercultural competence with diverse groups in relation to teaching.

Salary commensurate with degree level and experience

  • Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5507 $6008 per fulltime month
  • CSU Classification Salary Range: $5507 $6677 per fulltime month
