Job Description

Internal Job Title: Business Analyst/Product Owner

Job Type: Permanent FullTime

Job Location: Ottawa ON

Work Model: Hybrid

 

Position Summary

As a Business Analyst/Product Owner in our International Service Delivery group you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of projects for our government customers around the world. In this blended role you will work in close collaboration with several CBN departments as you perform a range of duties across the BA/PO spectrum.

 

Responsibilities

  • Requirements Gathering:
    • Work closely with clients and internal teams to understand stakeholder needs and expectations. Identify and create welldefined user stories with appropriate acceptance criteria.
  • Documentation:
    • Create and maintain detailed documents that accurately capture user stories use cases requirements.
    • Identify and translate requirements into functional specifications for technical teams.
  • Stakeholder Liaison:
    • Act as bridge between internal and external stakeholders engaging both sides to gather feedback and ensure that needs are being met and priorities and goals are clear and aligned.
  • Product Roadmap:
    • Collaborate with the Product Manager on the product vision and roadmap development and ensure it is aligned with business goals.
  • Product Backlog Management:
    • Develop and maintain the product backlog prioritizing backlog items based on customer needs business value and strategic goals.
  • Development Support:
    • Facilitate the product development process by ensuring that team members have what they need to deliver the product. Provide guidance on questions and concerns as they are raised either by the client or internally with the team.
  • Various Other Duties and Responsibilities.

 


Qualifications :

Education and Knowledge

  • Bachelors degree in business computer science or information systems (or related field) or an equivalent combination of relevant education and additional work experience
  • International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) or Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification is an asset
  • Knowledge of the following:
    • Software development lifecycle
    • Agile methodology/frameworks
    • Product backlog management
    • Project management

Experience

  • 3 years of experience as a Business Analyst or Product Owner/Manager
  • Background in enterprise applications customer platforms or digital product delivery

Technical Environment

  • Office Software: Microsoft 365 Copilot
  • Tools: Jira Confluence

Mandatory Requirements

  • Language: Fluency in English (reading writing speaking); Fluency in French is an asset
  • Travel: Ability to travel internationally (passport required) approx. 23 weeks/year
