Duties:
Control of projects/programmes:
- Engage with project/programme management and product management across PID to provide guidance on the application of the Product Lifecycle Process (PLP).
- Engage with project/programme management across Commercial to provide guidance on the application of the Commercial Lifecycle Process (CLP).
- Support with promoting and facilitating the sharing of knowledge across Commercial and PID particularly for project/programmes where a high level of crossfunctional engagement is a success factor.
- Provide efficient timely and effective support to the Global Programmes Director and PEC Specialist Roles by monitoring and evaluating project/programme governance.
- Operate in accordance with the standard business rhythm that coordinates the activities of project/programme management and finance.
- Support Global Programmes reporting and reviews and the provision of communications across project/programme teams that are consistent and timely to aid the achievement of reporting cycle deadlines.
- Support Smiths Detection Project Offices and embedded Project Controllers/Coordinators with the effective of project controls related to the initiating planning monitoring & controlling communicating and closeout phases of all projects/programmes.
- Conduct PLP Gate Review Triage and arrange review meetings in accordance with PEC Work Instruction. Raise exceptions or issues with PEC Project Controller.
- Supporting with the administration of the PID Portfolio of Record covering project/programme finances milestones progress and resolution of issues.
- Process CLP Tollgates in accordance with the PEC Work Instruction.
- Support with the completion of Programmes Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) Triage maintenance of the Programmes COPQ Portal and Programmes COPQ reporting is completed in accordance with the PEC Work Instruction.
- Recognise the importance of the application of best industry practise project controls.
Administrative:
- Closely monitor the PEC Mailbox which serves as the PEC point of contact for all internal stakeholders. Ensure that a response is provided to stakeholders within one business day either by providing the required support or acknowledging receipt of a request for support.
- Complete routine administrative activities following PEC Project Controller coordination and in accordance respective PEC Work Instructions. These duties include but are not limited to:
- Raising Purchase Requisitions.
- Maintaining PEC registers.
- Capturing meeting minutes.
- Preparing documentation for PEC meetings.
- Assisting Global Programmes Director and PEC Specialist Roles with diary management and booking travel.
- Updating and creating PEC documentation presentations and training material.
- Creating reports and assisting with PEC communications.
Problems Resolution Continuous Improvement and Change Management:
- Solve problems and situations ordinarily encountered by practically applying general and detailed aspects of the job.
- Support continuous improvement or change management initiatives working under close supervision from either Global Programmes Director or PEC Specialist Roles.
Policies and Procedures:
- Promote the standardised and integrated PEC process framework (CLP incorporating PLP) and application across the global business.
- Support the PEC Global Process Owner & Change Manager with regular maintenance of the PEC process framework to ensure that it accurately reflects Smiths Detection project controls practices.
Qualifications :
Technical Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Educational requirements:
- HNC qualified in a relevant discipline Business/Project Management or Technology/Engineering desirable.
Knowledge:
- Understanding of cost data management and reporting methodologies/techniques.
- Awareness of planning methodologies/techniques and other aspects of project controls such as earned value management.
- Awareness of data science and business intelligence technologies and the value that its application creates.
- Appreciation of complex integrated technologybased sensor systems.
Skills:
- Strong administrator with some experience providing support to team members of different levels of seniority.
- Good level of experience of MS SharePoint lists is essential.
- Analytical skills selfstarting and strong focus on completing/finishing.
- Limited experience of project planning cost control risk and change management within a reputable project management environment.
- Some exposure to baseline planning and scheduling forecasting and estimating cost/schedule integration techniques.
- Appreciation of resource management.
- Awareness of critical path analysis reporting risk management tracking and the completion of corrective action plans.
- Good verbal and written communication and people management skills.

Job Purpose:
The Programme Excellence Centre (PEC) Coordinator is responsible for supporting the implementation of effective project controls within the PEC and for providing it with administrative support. They will follow a business standard approach to project controls covering all stages of the project/programme lifecycle.
The PEC Co will also perform routine administrative duties such as reporting and governance reviews and provide support to the PEC Team and Global Programmes Director covering a variety of nonroutine tasks associated with controls assurance specialist activities and information management.
This role will directly contribute to the value that the PEC provides to Global Programmes and the wider business.
