Job Description Summary
Consulting Services a part of GE Vernova has offices in 22 countries and offers our global clients (external & internal GE Vernova) a wide range of solutions across the entire spectrum of power generation delivery and utilization. Our Power Economics team offers analyses focused on understanding and study of the financial and physical operation of the electric power systems including generation and grid planning system optimization asset valuation competitive power markets and energy policy implications. Our Grid Stability Interconnection team utilizes their deep knowledge of connected power grid planning design operation and lifecycle management to offer customized solutions to our global clients. Over 700 users worldwide use our Concorda Suite of software tools to assess the economics performance and reliability of interconnected power systems. We also offer a full range of education courses through our Power Systems Engineering Course.
This position is for a Applications Engineer in the Munichs Grid Interconnection and Stability team within the Consulting Services organization working cross functionally with several teams and GE Vernova businesses.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Leading and executing electrical power system studies (including proposing planning managing performing analysis and reporting out) to meet the needs for reliability and performance of emerging grids with increasing share of power electronics equipment.
- Performing independent analyses of steadystate and dynamic performance as well as conducting different types of modeling and simulation.
- Communicating effectively with clients to support their analytical equipment design application and/or compliance needs and resolving issues promptly.
- Supporting development of power electronic based equipment and controls products based on evolving codes and standards.
- Actively participating in a working environment where teamwork quality customer service and innovation are prized
Required Qualifications
- Master or PhD degree in electrical or electric power systems engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electric power engineering power electronics converter design modeling simulation and power electronics grid application and operation.
- Ability to independently perform engineering analysis develop engineering solutions in a team environment and to provide technical consulting services to customers
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills (e.g. ability to effectively communicate with all levels of GE Vernova and customer).
- Develop and maintain a pipeline of consulting projects with external and internal customers
- Demonstrated strong project management skills.
- Willingness to travel as needed (up to 30.

Desired Characteristics
- Demonstrated professional experience in the following areas:
- Electric power systems engineering
- Analyzing and providing mitigation and solutions regarding grid control coordination resonances control interaction and subsynchronous torsional interaction
- FACTS control system design analysis simulations and testing
- Power flow dynamics harmonics short circuits modeling and analyses
- Assessment and/or application of technical and regulatory codes and standards
- Proficiency performing power systems analysis using dynamic&EMT simulation and analytical tools such as following: PowerFactory PSS/E PSCAD / EMTPrv RTDS Python MATLAB MS Office.
- Active participation within industry professional societies such as IEEE IEC CIGRE or other industry stature such as EIT PE license
- Pending or awarded patents
