Job Description:
The Nebraska Public Employees Retirement Systems (NPERS) administers several statewide retirement systems and one deferred compensation plan for the State of Nebraska. As Director you will report to a ninemember board and be responsible for overall planning organization development supervision direction and coordination of the ongoing operations of the Systems.
Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
As Director you will be responsible to:
Administer six separate employee retirement plans with a total membership of approximately 175840 active inactive and retired employees.
Provide strategic oversight of agency functions and serve as a liaison with the Governor State agencies the Legislature member groups agency attorney internal auditor and the consulting actuary.
Design develop and implement sound fiscal and accounting procedures records and practices and be familiar with the general financial and management characteristics of financial institutions.
Establish both short and longterm goals for the agency and the various pensions systems.
Serve as an exofficio member of the Nebraska Investment Council. The Nebraska Investment Council is responsible for investing the retirement assets.
Requirements / Qualifications:
The successful candidate will preferably have an advanced degree in business administration public administration finance/accounting or related field and relevant training in experience with or demonstrated knowledge of qualified public employee retirement plan administration as well as supervisory or management experience. The Director shall not be a member of the board.
Appointment is subject to approval by the Governor.
