Job Description
Deschutes Brewery is looking for a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join our Bend OR team! The ideal candidate is driven excels in a fastpaced kitchen and is committed to the highest standards of quality and presentation with a guest first focus. As a leader on our team the Sous Chef is responsible for oversight of Back of House (BOH) functions and team including expediting food preparation ordering scheduling cost management training and employee development. This is a fulltime benefited position. Benefits include medical dental vision 401k ESOP and paid vacation.
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide support and motivation to all Back of House (BOH) employees to maintain our quality standards and expected presentation; teach cooking techniques food preparation and plating
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen and equipment
- Mentor and train all BOH staff ensuring Deschutes Brewery quality standards are met
- Manage shifts and communicate at a high level with Executive Chef
- Must be able to work weekends.
Requirements:
- 5 years of line cooking experience preferably in a fastpaced full service establishment
- 2 years kitchen management experience preferred
- Valid Oregon food handlers or Serve safe card
- Valid OLCC permit at time of hire
- Outgoing positive and supportive leader
- Ability to trouble equipment issues and provide basic maintenance support to kitchen facilities
- Skilled knowledge of excel and common restaurant software
- Culinary education or equivalent experience with scratch and batch cooking preferred
