Job Description

Overview:


The Heart Center at Nationwide Childrens Hospital (NCH) the primary pediatric teaching facility for The Ohio State University is recruiting a visionary nationally recognized physician leader for the position of Medical Director of Echocardiography. The ideal candidate will have the skills and experience to oversee the clinical operations educational programs quality improvement initiatives and academics within the echocardiography team.


Candidates should be boardcertified in pediatric cardiology with advanced training and expertise in echocardiography. Strong interest in clinical/translational research with a track record of scholarly productivity/funding are highly desirable.


The successful applicant will lead our IACaccredited NCH Noninvasive Cardiac Imaging team which currently includes 15 attending physicians and 24 sonographers and performs more than 20000 echocardiographic studies annually including more than 2000 fetal transesophageal intracardiac intravascular and 3D echocardiograms. Our growing Heart Center cardiac MRI/CT program includes 8 attending physicians from Cardiology and Radiology and performs over 1000 annual studies. Academic productivity is an expectation as is mentoring junior faculty and fellows. The program includes a 4th year Advanced Noninvasive Cardiac Imaging fellowship to complement the core pediatric and combined pediatricadult cardiology fellowship programs.

The Heart Center embraces a culture of patient safety and quality transparency valuebased care public health awareness excellence in education and engagement in translational/outcomes research. Our program is closely partnered with the Center for Cardiovascular Research at the NCHResearch Institute which provides infrastructure to support the clinical research enterprise. Research opportunities include engaging in basic science research clinical research translational research populationbased studies and researchbased education or quality improvement initiatives.

The Heart Center is also part of the Congenital Heart Collaborative between the University Hospitals/Rainbow Babies & Childrens Hospital (Cleveland OH) and Nationwide Childrens Hospital heart programs which provides additional opportunity for collaborative research.

Job Description:


Essential Functions:

  • Conducts patient assessments and diagnoses medical conditions.
  • Develops and implements treatment plans for patients in accordance with established protocols. Monitors patient progress and adjusts treatment plans as necessary.
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic tests to aid in patient diagnosis and treatment.
  • Communicates with patients and their families to provide education and support.
  • Maintains accurate and uptodate medical records for each patient and coordinates care with other healthcare professionals.
  • Participates in the training and education of medical students residents and fellows as required.
  • Stays uptodate with medical advancements and research to provide the best possible care.


Education Requirement:

  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine equivalent required.
  • Graduate of an approved Fellowship program if applicable required.


Licensure Requirement:

  • Medical License in the State of Ohio required.
  • Unrestricted licensed physician required.


Certifications:

Board Certification or eligibility in Pediatrics required.
